Senior Account Executive | Cybersecurity Sales Expert | Driving Strategic Growth | Empathy & Integrity in Sales
When one launches a sales career, one quickly learns to develop a thick skin. Rejection is part and parcel of the career path. Rejection in a sales motion has never bothered me. A quick no frees you up to chase down another yes. It is pat of the job. I was laid off last year in January. I have been doggedly filling out applications, leveraging my network, asking for introductions and referrals, and chatting with various people across my network. Here is the deal: I am a very good salesperson. I find great personal reward and value in helping my customers solve problems that sometimes weren't even on their radar. I believe wholeheartedly in creating relationships with my customers and being there through thick and thin, shoulder to shoulder, building a true business-to-business partnership. But even a thick skin gets worn raw from time to time. Because all of the cash that I had saved up from my successful years at Masergy, McAfee and Menlo has now evaporated. Thank goodness that I had the foresight to plan for a rainy day. Due to this unprecedented (in my career, at least) period of time, I have resorted to applying to grocery stores and other part-time gigs to hopefully support my wife, who is now the sole breadwinner. My skin broke today... completely gutted. Because I received this message: Thank you for your interest in our Cashier position here at Sprouts. Our talent acquisition team has reviewed your application. At this time, we have decided to pursue other candidates who most closely meet our needs for this position. Please be assured that your application was given full consideration. If you have applied for other positions, please note that this message is only in reference to the Cashier position. New opportunities are always opening up, so we encourage you to search our careers page for other positions that are of interest to you. Thank you for your interest in Sprouts. Have a healthy day! What in the fuck is happening?

New to sales? Here’s the advice I got when I first started. It was SO helpful. 👉 For starters, get out of email. Pick up the phone. 👉 Sell to power! You can’t get far without a decision-maker. 👉 And get the “no” as quickly as possible. As we scale our sales team at W3LL, keep an eye out for opening sales positions!

Remember your first day of employment? Going back in time to 1989, the sales game has changed significantly. Gone are the days are selling on: • your appearance alone • fooling your customer with drivel and fluff • selling just on visibility • going for a drink or dinner to secure a deal Our customers today are wise, discerning, have lots more choices and a lot more companies are looking for their business. You have got to be a lot more street wise these days, give way more value and excellent service. Have a well positioned product at the right price. And never forget, a relationship based on trust. Lets get out there and 'shake the trees!' 🌴 #thegrowthcatalyst #salesadvice Image: my first day in sales 1989

I connect Tech & Renewables Recruitment professionals with the hottest leadership roles across London 🇬🇧
“Most recruitment rookies don't make money because they can't wait 12 months” I saw this post from Trevor Pinder last week and, quite honestly, I couldn’t agree more. One of the key life / sales lessons I’ve carried with me since my glory days (door-to-door sales) is that skillsets TAKE TIME (what a revelation). When I first started D2D sales, I would aim to speak to 100-people a day, to find 3 sales. Now quite honestly, those 3 people would’ve said yes if I’d knocked on and asked to punch them in the face. Why? Because they were yes people… I worked the law of averages to find them. So, across my 2 yrs in this role, I pushed myself every single day to learn, grow & develop. ANNNNDDDD, as a result, I was hitting 5 sales per day within 20-25 conversations. So what’s my point here? As Trevor said, your skillsets take time, if you’re serious about doing well in this (or any) industry, give yourself that time. Until then, work the numbers. Put a fucking shift in. Because trust me, if you’re not willing to do it, somebody else is.

Founder @ Right Choice Resources | Sales Recruiting | 3x Top Sales Performer | 3x Inc. 5000 | #1 Salesperson Turned Sales Recruiter Finding "A" Talent
I placed a 7 figure salesperson. Ranked #1 at his company. And the only one with no industry experience. The lesson? Most look for industry experience first. And intangibles second. It should be the other way around. #sales #hiring #jobsearch #recruitment
