Great overview of the challenges that utilities face in actually determining what services are made of lead (or galvanized steel), so they can be replaced. Many do not have accurate records of service material type from years ago. Our field work so far has shown that a lot of lead service locations can pretty random due to the work that has been done over the years either by the utility or the homeowner. Timothy Preager gives a great overview of our technology and how it works. We're getting a lot of questions about finding galvanized steel services as well, and yes, the same approach works very well to find them.

In case you missed it, our own Jordan Miller, Dominion Energy’s Gus Johnson and Will F. and Woolpert’s Mike Battles offered a look at Dominion’s leading approach to cost-effective resilience at UIIC - Utility Imagery & Inspection Consortium’s Summer Symposium in Richmond earlier this month. Here’s one of our favorite takeaways from Gus on the importance of a centralized, high-quality data set that infuses every operation with more proactivity: “We envision a future where every asset—whether a transmission tower or a substation—is seen with unprecedented clarity. Our mission is to create a comprehensive imaging and inspection ecosystem that enables decision-makers, field crews, and engineers alike to access information for use cases such as inspections, vegetation management, environmental monitoring, emergency response, asset management, and much more.”

We were thrilled to participate in this feasibility study for MAMII, leveraging our over three decades of specialized experience in emissions reduction technologies! Here are some key takeaways:   Innovative Methane Abatement Solution: CDTi's Lean Methane Oxidation Catalyst, a passive device installed within the exhaust flow of dual-fuel engines, is designed to curb methane slip effectively. This compact catalyst uses advanced noble metal chemistry to oxidize methane into carbon monoxide and water vapor, achieving substantial methane conversion rates at normal operating temperatures. Proven Technology with Significant ROI: Our adaptable, proven solution controls methane slip from dual fuel engine systems, providing a reliable and efficient emissions reduction strategy. Early trials and input from solution providers indicate methane abatement levels of up to 90%, depending on application.
