Collaborating with WeRideAustralia and Better Streets, AITPM took Lee Waters MS and Phil Jones to Canberra to speak to our nation's politicians and leading industry bodies about the need to change our approach to transport if we have any hope of meeting our emission targets and addressing catastrophic climate change. #transport #netzero #dercarbonisingtransport #climatechange
“For 70 years we’ve made jumping in a car the easiest way of getting around and other modes of transport more difficult. We’ve created friction, and until we make active travel and sustainable transport the easy, obvious everyday choice for ordinary people, then we will fail.” Welsh MP Lee Waters MS addressed Parliament recently on changes he led in Wales. The event was hosted by the Friends of Cycling and organised by WeRide with the support of AITPM - Leadership in Traffic and Transport and Better Streets. For full videos see https://lnkd.in/gcdehmPF

The results will give campaigners and urban planners a substantial footing to argue for more cycling infrastructure in towns and cities around the world. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCzXNS24

WHO’s Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030 (GAPPA) provided recommendations to help countries increase levels of physical activity within their populations, by developing and implementing dedicated comprehensive national policies to ensure safer roads for cycling and walking; accessible opportunities for active recreation where people live, work and play; and on physical activity. Four years after GAPPA the first Global status report on physical activity charts progress on country implementation of these recommendations to achieve the global target of a 15% relative reduction in the prevalence of physical inactivity by 2030.
