India proudly enters an elite league as ISRO successfully launches the PSLV-C58 X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) mission! 🛰️ This remarkable achievement marks India as the second nation to send an observatory to study astronomical phenomena like black holes and neutron stars. 🌟 The PSLV-C58, in its 60th mission, lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, placing the XPoSat into its designated orbit with precision. XPoSat, equipped with POLIX and XSPECT payloads, will conduct space-based polarization measurements of X-ray emissions from celestial sources, furthering our understanding of the universe. 🌠 In addition to XPoSat, the mission also deployed 10 other payloads, including innovative experiments by start-ups, educational institutions, and ISRO canters. Notably, the Fuel Cell Power System (FCPS) payload holds promising applications for India's future space endeavors, including the proposed space station slated for 2035. Czech satellite VZLUSAT-2 celebrates two years in space! Here are some highlights: - It's the only satellite built in the Czech Republic capable of capturing high-resolution images of our planet. It takes shots with two cameras - one with a wide field of view and the other with detailed images covering an area of 30x20 km! - It monitors gamma-ray bursts from space and eruptions on the Sun - so far, it has recorded 68 observations, including a unique burst from the neutron stars collision! - It's still fully operational! The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the nanosatellite from the Czech Aerospace Research Centre into orbit in January 2022. The initially estimated lifespan was 2 years, yet VZLUSAT-2 is demonstrating that it still has much to offer! India's first solar observation mission, Aditya-L1: reaches final destination 🎉 The spacecraft has been traveling towards the Sun for four months since lift-off on 2 Sept 2023. L1 stands for Lagrange point 1 - the exact place between the Sun and Earth where the spacecraft has now reached. According to the European Space Agency, a Lagrange point is a spot where the gravitational forces of two large objects - such as the Sun and the Earth - cancel each other out, allowing a spacecraft to "hover" L1 is located 1.5 million km (932,000 miles) from the Earth, which is 1% of the Earth-Sun distance. Once Aditya-L1 reaches this "parking spot" it will be able to orbit the Sun at the same rate as the Earth. From this vantage point it will be able to watch the Sun constantly, even during eclipses and occultations, and carry out scientific studies. #isroindia #L1 #solarmission #research #AesI #ESA

Pakistan's iCube Qamar satellite has achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully entering lunar orbit on May 8th at 1:14 pm PST. Launched on May 3rd aboard China's Chang'e-6 spacecraft, the satellite is now poised to capture high-quality images of the lunar surface from its 12-hour elliptical orbit. The deployment was confirmed by Dr. Khurram Khurshid from the Institute of Space Technology (IST), who highlighted the collaborative efforts with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Suparco. This achievement showcases Pakistan's capabilities in space exploration and demonstrates the potential of CubeSats like iCube Qamar for research in various orbits. Led by IST faculty and students, the satellite is equipped with advanced technology, including two optical cameras and essential modules for communication and control. Beautifying ISRO slides: A series Swipe to see the original slide. With the Union cabinet approving ISRO's budget a few days ago, we have a lot coming up in the following years. So, I thought, why not cover the mission while redesigning the slides that were used to present them because that's something I have wanted to do for a long time? Starting off with a new interplanetary mission, we have the Venus Orbiter Mission, ISRO's first mission to our sister planet, Venus. It was referred to as "Shukrayaan" in a few articles previously, but no such name was used on the official slides. With a budget of 1236 Crores, the mission is to build, launch, and operate an orbiter around Venus to collect valuable scientific data. Out of the approved budget, Rs 824 crore will be dedicated to developing the spacecraft itself. The payloads on board the orbiter will be studying the hellish planet's surface and atmosphere. With no current active Venus orbiter, India might just reach in time to be one of the missions to restart close observation of Venus in a few years. The duration to reach Venus would depend on the launch vehicle and the mission profile set to give the spacecraft the required velocity for its voyage to Venus. Fragmentation characterization in the circular restricted three body problem for cislunar space domain awareness - Abstract : "With heightened international interest in spacecraft activities in the vicinity of the Moon, cislunar space debris is likely to follow. Even one fragmentation event can have catastrophic and far-reaching consequences, which drives the need for appropriate debris characterization tools. How a single fragmentation plays out is highly dependent on any given initial condition in the near-chaotic cislunar region. This paper offers a means of structuring the cislunar region in terms of dynamical flow, which enables global characterization of fragmentation events without propagation of every possible case. This work investigates patterns in fragment behaviour as a function of energy, Δ𝑣, and orbit location, and explores emergent dynamic structures in the vicinity of the Earth-Moon 𝐿2 Lagrange point. Subsequent findings are applied to analysis of a realistic breakup event for a 500 kg satellite on an 𝐿2 Lyapunov orbit with a Jacobi constant of 3.0165, modeled using an in–house modified version of the NASA Standard Breakup Model." https://lnkd.in/eqVsiFuN

🛰️The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the XPoSAT (X-ray Polarimeter SATellite) on January 1 at 9:10 AM, marking a new phase of operations for the year, 2024. 🌌This operation is India’s first dedicated mission to study the behavior of black holes and understand their nature. The XPoSAT will carry out research by studying the X-Ray emissions of the celestial objects within the effective gravitational range of prominent black holes. 🛠️ISRO became the second organization to achieve this feat after NASA had launched its own IXPE (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer) in 2021, to primarily observe and understand the spin of black holes. The XPoSAT carries two payloads, namely, Polix (Polarimeter Instrument In X-rays) and Xspect (X-ray Spectroscope and Timer). 💸The XPoSAT will also help study the radiations from near neutron stars, using X-ray photons and their polarization. It is expected to have a mission-life of 5 to 7 years. The Odysseus landing module, also known as IM-1, is part of a broader project that includes the development of a microprocessor. This landing module is part of a CubeSat satellite, which is a type of small, modular satellite used for space research. The goal of the Odysseus landing module is to enable a CubeSat to perform a controlled landing on a celestial body, such as an asteroid or the Moon. This involves designing navigation, control, and propulsion systems that allow the CubeSat to safely reach the surface of the celestial body and perform measurements or take samples.
