Malaysia moves closer to its unique dual 5G network strategy. Malaysia is advancing plans for dual 5G networks with support from Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB). After this week’s announcements, CelcomDigi, U Mobile, Maxis, and YTL have now met all conditions of a share subscription agreement with the Ministry of Finance and DNB. Telekom Malaysia is the only major operator yet to finalize its commitment with DNB given them until August 20 to finalize shareholder approvals. This initiative follows the government's shift from a single 5G network strategy, aiming to enhance competition and improve network coverage. The selection process for the second 5G network will commence once the subscription deal is completed. Latest GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) report: + 308 commercial 5G networks launched worldwide + 297 operators in 117 countries and territories had launched or soft-launched 5G mobile services, while 153 operators in 71 countries and territories had launched or soft-launched 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA + 124 operators are identified as investing in standalone 5G (including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning and deploying as well as those that have launched standalone 5G networks) + GSA has catalogued 49 operators as having deployed, launched or soft-launched standalone 5G in public networks #5G #5GSA
