⚡🧲Are you driving around the city or cruising between town and country like I do every day? Then you might wonder why your electric car isn't hitting those range numbers you were hoping for. Well, let's talk about 🥯 and dive into what Schaeffler has published about this topic. 😉 Schaeffler has put together some interesting charts showing how #electric #motors perform under different driving conditions. 🧲The first chart on the left is a plot showing torque (in Newton-meters) versus speed (rpm). The color gradient represents efficiency levels, with green areas indicating higher efficiency and red areas indicating lower efficiency. There are four red points marked as 1, 2, 3, and 4, which indicate specific operating points. Simply said: green means "good" and red means "you are loosing power, your motor is becoming a heater". Then, there are four donut charts on the side, matching those spots from the efficiency map, breaking down where your power is going and what's causing the losses. Especially during city drive and on country roads which I use every day when I drive from Werdohl to Brockhaus office in Lüdenscheid the iron losses from the stator matter a lot.
