In addition to running my own PR consulting firm, I have also been the GM of a non-profit travel baseball program - created in NYC six years ago to provide opportunities for all kids - regardless of economic status. Every year, the East River Sharks baseball program provides scholarships to kids from various parts of NYC who can't afford the cost of joining a travel baseball team. Many of our coaches are volunteers, and we rely on donations to keep the organization running and the kids on the field! Currently 70% of our players are on scholarship! This week, for 4 days only, we are raising money for our non-profit baseball program the East River Sharks! NOT ASKING FOR MONEY, just sharing an interesting thought. Cool prizes don’t motivate people to share your brand/idea/cause or whatever else you are trying to promote. My football club, the Judean Rebels, is made up of multiple tackle and flag teams with hundreds of players and former players. I made an offer to the team captains: Whichever team raises the most money for our go-fund-me would get a customized pair of Air Force Ones. The mock-up looked sweet. The team captains were pretty into it. I thought it would be a home run. But then we ran into our first major problem: We couldn't convince any of the players to commit to raising anything. And the captains gave up. The result? 24 donations reaching about $1,500. So early this year my friend Daniel Freishtat reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to run a peer-to-peer fundraiser using CauseMatch. I told him I know everything about peer-to-peer, and believe me, it’s not for us. But we met anyway, and within a few minutes, we uncovered 5 different huge mistakes I had made. And what we could have done. So I took them up on it. And we’ll see if we can beat that $1,500 raised. And I am going to show you exactly how we do it in the following weeks. #fundraising #nonprofit #football

I thought I did a lot of running during the game and so I then checked to see what the average premier league player runs in a match. I realised why I was so tired and my legs and ankles are aching two days after....I ran 5.2miles, the average premier league (football/soccer) player runs 7miles! BIG difference though! I'm one or two years older than them... I do have one more game of football before we wrap up the year. Raising money for the football teams I manage/coach (under 9s and under 6s - It's my youngest child in the picture with me) to help contribute towards tracksuits and jackets for the children. That's this coming weekend. Moreover, a collective initiative across Tasmanian clubs culminated in a generous $35,220 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, significantly enhancing the support facilities for families of children undergoing medical treatments in Hobart.
