Reflecting on our incredible journey with Nordstrom, we're thrilled to share how their steadfast commitment continues to enhance our mission at Good+ Foundation. Nordstrom's ongoing support spans beyond financial contributions; it fuels our work in profound ways—from hosting meaningful family experiences to generously donating essential goods like health and hygiene items. In 2024, Nordstrom has once again renewed their dedication, enabling us to deepen our impact and aid more families to break the cycle of multi-generational poverty. Their national partnership exemplifies effective corporate engagement, and we're grateful for their continued investment in our work. Thank you, Nordstrom, for going above and beyond for the families we serve. #NordstromCares #CorporateInvestment

Oprah Winfrey Exits WeightWatchers Board, Donates Shares to Museum Oprah Winfrey has announced her departure from the board of directors of WeightWatchers after a nine-year tenure, alongside a commitment to donate her financial interest in the company to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This move sent WeightWatchers' stock plummeting by 17%, marking a significant shift from the surge experienced upon her joining in 2015. Amidst evolving industry dynamics, notably the rise of GLP-1 medication for weight management, WeightWatchers faces financial challenges. Winfrey, owning approximately 1.4% of the company, emphasizes her ongoing support for addressing obesity as a chronic condition and her contribution to the museum to avoid any conflict of interest regarding her use of weight loss drugs. #OprahWinfrey #WeightWatchersExit #stockmarketimpact #MuseumDonation #HealthAndWellness #FinancialShifts #WeightManagement #OprahLegacy #NationalMuseumAfricanAmericanHistory #IndustryDynamics #ObesityAwareness #Philanthropy #CulturalContribution #veritasmedia

🌟 Unleashing the Power of Fashion for a Better World! 🌟 Fashion has always been more than just clothes and trends. It has the incredible potential to drive positive change and make a lasting impact on society. When designers and brands align themselves with causes that resonate with their audiences, they create a powerful platform for social transformation. By channeling their passion and resources towards meaningful initiatives, they can inspire others and pave the way for a more compassionate and inclusive world. Now more than ever, we need the fashion industry to step up and address pressing social issues. By focusing on causes that align with their values, they not only contribute to the betterment of society but also create a positive brand image and build a loyal and engaged community. It's time for fashion to become a catalyst for change. John Bartlett Page Magazine WORLD COLLECTIVE #tinytimrescue #pagemagazine #UnleashThePowerOfFashion #CreatingImpact #FashionWithPurpose
Thank you again to Jeanine Ballone and Page Magazine for the opportunity to talk about my non-profit, The Tiny Tim Rescue Fund, and how fashion designers and brands are aligning themselves in an organic way to the causes that resonate with their audiences. I welcome collaborators to work with me to raise awareness and funds around the growing homeless population of abandoned shelter dogs, a number that has almost doubled in the last year, sadly. Elaine Chu, embodies the values that we espouse at 21/64: integrity, justice, relationships, and innovation. Throughout her career, she has learned to seamlessly blend SELF and ROLE, to the great benefit of the families and institutions she serves. Based in Seattle, WA, Elaine is a vice president of Philanthropic Strategies for Fidelity Charitable®. Since 2022, she has led a team of philanthropic strategists in the Private Donor Group that advises Fidelity Charitable’s most generous donors on how they can use their charitable resources to meaningfully advance the causes they care about. Earlier in her career, Elaine was Director of Philanthropic Services at the Seattle Foundation. Currently, she is a board member for Green River College, a public community college focused on global workforce development and civic engagement. This month, Elaine will be named the Wonderful Woman of Color with the Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC)® to kick off Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Thank you, Elaine, for bringing your authentic self to the 21/64 Learning Community and for enriching all of us with your ideas and the example you set. IN A FEW SENTENCES, WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE? To make this world a better place for the next generation, personally and professionally. My favorite quote on this is “we don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” I use this as my north star to change the narrative that we lead with selflessness. I want to continue to encourage children, young adults, and parents through engagement and tools they can use to become champions for causes and communities they care deeply about. WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WORK? I get to build relationships and meet wonderful families who lead with empathy, kindness, and humbleness. They are intentional and thoughtful in their approaches to giving. I find joy in working with families to connect the dots and advise them in their planning to maximize their impact to nonprofits and communities. WHAT IS A BURNING QUESTION YOU HAVE FOR THIS COMMUNITY? What does success look like to you when working with families in philanthropy? I know we tend to immediately gravitate to the quantitative side when we think about success and impact, but our work goes beyond that as we build trust and relationships. WHAT WAS THE LAST SHOW YOU BINGED-WATCHED? Ted Lasso! The show reminded me a lot about teamwork, relationships, friendships, and how it takes a community to work together.

Hiring the wrong person in a key fundraising role can set your organization back several years in damaged relationships and revenue production. If you're embarking on a journey to find and hire a new major gift fundraiser, you should know these seven qualities of high-performing major gift fundraisers: 1. They are focused, active listeners 2. They care deeply about people, and value the art of building deep relationships 3. They are passionate about their organization's mission and values 4. They are highly self-aware and self-disciplined 5. They are results-driven 6. They are resilient 7. They are persistent, but not pestering #abetterway #talentmattersmost #majorgifts #philanthropy #fundraising #nonprofit

#simply #grateful for so much more than #thanksgiving plate fulls of food today and the shopping rush into #blackfriday What if we approach things a bit differently and emphasize more #giving and the #generosity of #givingtuesday before all of this consumption in the next few days instead of after them? Will there be anything left to give? Aren’t charities worth so much more than Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday leftovers? What if for every dollar spent, an equal dollar was given? Imagine the impact of the #nonprofit and #authentic #philanthropy on our society as we fulfill and perhaps even make obsolete duplicate missions … what if every #challenge and #crisis now known is completely replaced by adequately funded solutions and #collaborative innovation? #leaders #leadwithlove #leadbyexample #wecandobetter #givethanks #generositymatters #crisisleadership #crisismanagement #strategicleadership #disruptiveinnovation

My dear nonprofit sector chosen family - If you aren't paying attention to the continuing federal court case American Alliance for Equal Rights vs. Fearless Fund, now is the time. Fearless Fund is an Atlanta-based company that was started in 2019 to break down the barriers Black women face trying to secure resources and funding for growing their business. Fearless Fund runs a separate non-profit organization called the Fearless Foundation, where it gives charitable donations and grants to women of color entrepreneurs. Both the Fund and the Foundation are named in the suit. The plaintiff (on behalf of its white members) in this case seeks to apply the same logic that ended affirmative action in higher education to philanthropy. This means that organizations like the respondent - Atlanta's Fearless Foundation - would no longer be able to organize its grantmaking priorities around supporting "women of color led businesses." Friends - the courts, packed with lifetime Trump-appointed judges, are using laws created to address racial disparities to reinforce them. It will take a MASSIVE and UNPRECEDENTED amount of cooperation, collaboration and advocacy in our sector to stop us from sliding down this very slippery slope. Please take a moment to learn about this case and read the statement below from the Council on Foundations https://lnkd.in/eA3_za4F
