Progress towards full adoption of digitisation to drive higher productivity in the infrastructure sector is fragmented. New Zealand has developed individual digital solutions capable of scaling nationally, but ingrained and archaic funding and procurement practices and a lack of collaboration between the public and private sectors make accessing these solutions difficult. Progress to address these issues has been siloed by a lack of coordinated governance and vision for greater scale. This event, in partnership with WSP in New Zealand, provides an opportunity for the sector to come together to discuss the way forward. Our panel will include John Hemi (Te Waihanga, New Zealand Infrastructure Commission), Kerri Gray (WSP) and Thomas Hyde (Beca). The discussion will focus on the potential for a national digital twin and the work underway to unlock the value of the data which underpins these solutions. To achieve better, safer, and smarter road networks, the International Road Federation partnered with McKinsey to examine worldwide road management and explore ways to enhance the current system. The study included 20 countries road infrastructures to understand the causes and proffer solutions. To meet the needs in developing countries, it is imperative to develop a toolkit that captures various infrastructure financing models that meet local requirements; the diagnostic kit is an ongoing process, as new research facts emerge, they are embedded, this way you improve old mechanisms and minimise errors of omission. This is one of the things we do at Connectronics - optimising infrastructure delivery with modern methods and ingenious approaches. As we approach the end of another year, it's a good time to reflect on all that the Global Infrastructure Hub has achieved this year, as detailed in our recently published Annual Report. Beyond presenting the necessary financial and compliance information, the report showcases our major activities and achievements from the year. In FY23, our initiatives revolved around four fundamental pillars: data, knowledge, innovation, and connection. Noteworthy achievements include the refinement of our key assets - InfraTracker and Infrastructure Monitor (see the latest update here: https://lnkd.in/dzXqWjZC). These resources cover both public and private investments, delivering #data-driven insights to policymakers and investors to inform decision-making in policy and sustainable infrastructure development. We also implemented a new #knowledge mobilisation strategy, underscoring our dedication to inclusive capacity building and the sharing of tools within the global infrastructure community. This commitment is exemplified by the introduction of our new Certificate of Inclusive Infrastructure. Supporting this, and helping to keep our work relevant and directly connected to industry, we also launched our Private Sector Advisory Council and Infrastructure Regulations Advisory Council – both groups create important #connections between and across the infrastructure ecosystem, and deepen the impact we can have. In the realm of #innovation, we launched Transition Pathways for Sustainable Infrastructure, consisting of 15 broad actions designed to transition infrastructure and meet global climate targets and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reading the Annual Report is always an uplifting experience, providing an opportunity to take stock and reflect on the collective efforts and achievements of the GI Hub team and our partners within the broader infrastructure ecosystem. The latest Global Infrastructure Index from Ipsos UK finds Britons less satisfied with infrastructure than the global average across 31 countries but equally positive as others about most infrastructure sectors. The survey - carried out in 31 countries by Ipsos in collaboration with the Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA)- is the seventh of its kind, and the first since 2021. Key findings: 💡 73% of Britons agree that investing in infrastructure will create new jobs and boost the economy - higher than the global average of 69%. 💡 64% think infrastructure can make an important contribution to combating climate change - higher than the global average of 59%. 💡 68% think the country is not doing enough to meet its infrastructure needs (higher than the global average of 57%), up from 64% in 2021. 💡 Britons are less resistant than citizens in other countries to increasing spending on infrastructure even if this means higher taxes or more government borrowing 💡 70% of Britons don’t think infrastructure in their country has been adapted enough to cope with future changes in the climate - higher than the global average of 61%. 💡 67% of Britons think infrastructure isn’t being built quickly enough - higher than the global average of 60%. 💡 However, they don’t want to compromise local engagement; 63% agree that local communities’ views on plans for infrastructure should be heard properly even if it means delays - similar to the global average of 65%. #Infrastructure #MarketResearch #Transport #EV #Energy #ClimateChange
