@DrMishMash- Are non-surgeons performing surgeries up and down UK? I have spoken since my first post to nurse practitioners who have shared they know colleagues who perform appendicectomies, cholecystectomies and mastectomies and others. This is worrying and apart from patient safety, accountability and training opportunities for surgeons, nursing colleagues inform me this places some under added pressure given this is well beyond their remit and license. Do patients know about this before consenting? There should be an urgent review and I would go as far to say operators must achieve full membership exams to Royal College before any main surgeon operating as a means of objective and clear regulation. #patientcare #patientsafety #fyp #surgeonlife Madhava Pai Bassam Alkari Yazan Masannat The Royal College of Surgeons of England Dr. Sandeep Bansal Professor Shafi Ahmed Matt Mazurek, MD, MHA, MBA, CPE, FAAPL, FACHE, FASA

The popularity of aesthetic medicine has heightened the demand for aesthetic nurse practitioners (ANPs), who specialize in administering treatments like BOTOX® and dermal fillers. 💉 The ANP's duties include injectables, laser treatments, skin assessments, and patient care. If you aspire to become an ANP, you must obtain experience in advanced injection techniques, avoid side effects, and understand skin anatomy. To learn more about how to become a nurse practitioner and which courses to take, visit our blog section and read the latest article! https://lnkd.in/gq6-HTU2 #maylips #blog #education #nursepractitioner #aestheticnurse #medicaltreatment #aesthetictreatment #aestheticmedicine #medicalsupplier

Beginner Injectors - listen up! Here are 3 things you should do within your first year of injecting: Know your anatomy - this is a no-brainer, does it even require an explanation? This allows for client safety, precision and complication management! In the rare event of complications, a solid anatomical foundation equips injectors with the knowledge to quickly identify and manage issues such as hematomas, infections, or adverse reactions. Take a cadaver course Not only does this reinforce anatomical understanding, it also integrates theory and practice. This creates an opportunity for recognition of anatomical variations; cadaver studies expose nurse injectors to the natural variations in human anatomy, helping them recognize and adapt to these differences in their patients. This adaptability is key to providing personalized and effective treatments. Learn to network - not compete! Aesthetic injectors can gain numerous benefits from networking with one another instead of competing. What kind of benefits? Knowledge sharing, collaboration opportunities, support systems and a referral network are just a couple of reasons that come to mind! For our past alumni, we are excited to offer an exclusive special on our brand-new cadaver dissection course this fall! Message us “CADS” for more info. #cadavercourse #doctor #aestheticinjector #nurseinjector #nurse #registerednurse #nursepractitioner #nurseproblems #aestheticmedicine#beginninginjectors #injectorhacks #injectortips

Hello connections, Bowel elimination is a basic bodily function that most people carry out in private and are often embarrassed to discuss publicly. Nurses will encounter patients with bowel elimination issues in all areas of care. Knowledge and understanding of both normal function and the problems that can occur with that process will enable nurses to support and care for patients with bowel elimination problems. This article discusses the normal anatomy and physiology of elimination, problems, such as faecal incontinence, diarrhoea and constipation, and the nurse's role in their management. The importance of empathy, understanding, knowledge and consent is highlighted. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

What can I expect when coming to IVme for neurotoxin injections? At IVme, the patient’s goals are the top priority. Before any injection is administered, a registered nurse (RN), nurse practitioner (NP) or medical doctor (MD) will provide a full facial assessment, looking at the tone and texture of the skin, as well as the full facial anatomy and muscle movements. Once a treatment is given by one of IVme’s trained nurse injectors, IVme patients should begin to see results within 7-10 days. Because this is a temporary treatment–unlike fillers, which we’ll dive into later–injections are then administered every three to four months thereafter, depending on the type of treatment and overall goal. Contact your local IVme to book!

Celebrating National Time Out Day: Ensuring Patient Safety Today, we proudly observe National Time Out Day, a vital reminder of the importance of taking a "time out" before surgical procedures to ensure patient safety. Established by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), this day emphasizes the need for surgical teams to pause and verify critical information before making the first incision. What's the importance of taking a time-out? Preventing Errors: Time outs help prevent wrong-site, wrong-procedure, and wrong-person surgeries by confirming patient identity, surgical site, and procedure details. Enhancing Team Communication: This practice fosters clear communication and teamwork among the surgical team, ensuring everyone is on the same page. Improving Patient Outcomes: By double-checking all details, we reduce the risk of complications and enhance overall patient care. What's the Time Out Process? 1. Verify Patient Information 2. Review Critical Details 3. Communicate as a Team 4. Document the Time Out At Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—Frisco, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest patient safety standards. Our surgical teams rigorously adhere to the time-out protocol, ensuring that every patient receives the safest and most precise care possible. Let's use National Time Out Day to remind each team member of the critical role they play in patient safety. By consistently practicing this simple yet powerful step, we can significantly impact surgical outcomes. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/gM3CHFgU Lisa L.
