[#AIVPVenice2023] 📸 look back at the Roundtable: The new port-city interface 🗓 17th November 2023 “New” port-city interface projects are emerging everywhere, and they aim at making both the port and the city’s waterfront accessible to the citizens without expelling industrial activities further from the town centre. These contemporary waterfront projects are based on the concept of “mixity of functions”. In one word, they want to balance local life, touristic facilities and high-added value industrial activity: “Diversification” seems to be the key for more resilient port cities. Beyond the mixity of functions, the need for resilient living communities is expressed both by local governments, who suffered from the pandemic’s stop, and by port authorities, who understand their future economic uprising depends on their ability to play a different role in sectors such as blue economy, urban or suburban agriculture, recreative or artistic activities.
