The Minneapolis Renaissance Coalition, whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for reimagining investment downtown, is proud to have members like Michael Rainville for Ward 3, Adam Duininck, R.T. Rybak, Chris Sherman, Sarah Anderson, Erik Hansen and Erin Fitzgerald serve on the Mayor’s new Downtown Advisory Council. This Council unites our coalition with other dedicated organizations, including the City of Minneapolis mpls downtown council, The Minneapolis Foundation, Meet Minneapolis and more, to bring the Downtown Action Plan to life. In summary, this ambitious plan has nine key initiatives focused on activating streets and storefronts, supporting arts and culture, facilitating building reuse, enhancing public safety, creating pedestrian-friendly spaces, streamlining processes, and aligning resources for impactful, long-term revitalization. Together, we’re paving the way for a vibrant future in downtown Minneapolis. #MinneapolisRenaissanceCoalition #DowntownTransformation #FutureOfMpls #UrbanRevitalization #CUB #BuildingConversions
Excited to be a part of all the energy behind the downtown plans and continue the important city building that is underway in downtown Minneapolis. There’s an unprecedented amount of energy, resources, creativity, and focus on the future of downtown. I’m excited to be joined by so many great partners and collaborators on this effort. Thank you Jacob Frey and City of Minneapolis CPED for their efforts in pulling this group together! Brent Webb R.T. Rybak Melvin Tennant, II MA, CAE Mike Logan Dan McConnell Sarah Anderson Chris Sherman Erin Fitzgerald Elijah Fhima Greg Cunningham, MBA Ethan Casson Lester Bagley Susan Bass Roberts Todd J. Duesing Mich Berthiaume Heather Harnisch — The mpls downtown council and Meet Minneapolis will also soon release their own visions for the city’s future. Adam Duininck, the Downtown Council’s CEO, said he doesn’t see the plans as competing, just more of a divide-and-conquer mentality. “Even though there’s a lot of energy, creativity and hard work going on around downtown, never have we been more aligned in the direction we’re heading,” Duininck said.

I attended the Beyond the Crane event organized by Deloitte on Thursday where Nellie Reid (Managing Director Meehan Green) was one of the panellists on the 2024-A Pivot Point for Real Estate panel. The conference started with Crane Survey Report with Kate English's excellent presentation. Cranes are not counted anymore as it was originated in the UK 26 years ago but it is used as a metaphor as it is a clear symbol on the skyline that activity is happening beneath. The survey report can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dmWnJzVt An interesting data came up in the panel that only 2% of the offices constructed since 2009 are BER A rated. Nellie pointed out that almost half of them are not performing as expected and one of the reasons is the occupant behaviour. Tenants tend to move to more efficient buildings at the end of their 20-year lease agreements. There is a challenge to re-use/upgrade existing office buildings because of the planning regulations such as ceiling heights. The new policy in the UK allows existing office buildings to be converted to residential units if it is vacant for min 3 months which would be good to consider for Ireland as well. The flexible floor plans would increase the viability of the buildings as we don’t know the end user. The Clonburris Project in Dublin is presented in the first panel of the conference which is an example of Public+Private+State collaboration to respond to housing demand. The key point on the panel was the importance of creating a community with residential projects on this scale. Anthea Ormiston, Declan Dunne, Gavin W. The panellists agreed that the S on the ESG is the most challenging one as we can't quantify it. John Vaudin, Suzie Nolan, Jane Dolan Fire Chat with Ivan Yates about European and Local Elections was very enlightening for me before voting. Many thanks to Deloitte for organizing this event and to all panellists for insightful inputs. John Doddy

Earlier today we attended Bidwells' Offices & Labs Databook Webinar 🙌 These webinars are always a great source of data about the lab and office markets in Cambridge, Oxford, Milton Keynes and Norwich. We highly recommend reading the databook when it becomes available, but until then, here are some of the key takeaways: ➡️ Overall supply is still tight ➡️ Prime rents for offices and labs have accelerated ➡️ The lab market is primarily focused on Grade A spaces ➡️ Science & technology are still dominating the activity across offices and labs ➡️ There is below-market trend activity in Cambridge and Oxford for offices; but above above-market trend for labs Thank you to Saul Western, Sue Foxley, Malcolm White, Will Jones, Holly Dawson, Rob Beatson and Max Bryan for sharing such amazing insights. #COELWorkSpaces #Cambridge #Oxford #MiltonKeynes #Norwich
