ENTSO-E welcomes the vote by the European Parliament and supports the objectives to: 👩🏭 Strengthen European industry and manufacturing capacity of #netzero technologies for grids 🏆Increase competitiveness in Europe ⚡Support grids deployment needed for #energytransition Transmission System Operators strongly welcome the inclusion of electricity grid technologies and technologies to digitalise the grid as part of the Strategic Net-Zero Technologies list. This is key to contribute to the manufacturing aspects of grid development needs and, therefore, facilitating the achievements of the Green Deal Industrial Plan, part of the European Green Deal. Grids and interconnections are indeed essential for the EU’s secure, reliable and efficient electricity supply towards a clean energy transition. In the coming years, the need for grid technologies will dramatically increase to cope with the scaling up of electrification as well as integration and connection to renewable generation. Streamlining permit granting for grids and accelerating grid buildout are key to ensure the timely implementation of net-zero manufacturing projects and strategic net-zero projects. In the context of increasing international competition, it is therefore key to adopt the right policies – among which the #NZIA – to ensure that the EU will have the needed manufacturing capacities and skills to deliver the energy transition. ENTSO-E looks forward to actively support in the swift implementation of the regulation along with providing further clarification of the sustainability and resilience criteria in public procurement processes of net zero technologies for the grids and will continue to support initiatives EU #GridsActionPlan that contribute to a reliable, secure and efficient power system for a carbon-neutral Europe. The Netherlands wants to be climate-neutral by 2050. This means that we have to redesign our energy system in a different way: the demand for #energy is changing and increasing. This 'redesign of our energy system' is the biggest reconstruction in our country, and the joint network operators are working hard to adapt and expand the energy infrastructure accordingly. 🔌⚡ To build as efficiently as possible, it is necessary to look far ahead and work together.
