Embracing Diversity: Celebrating International Day of Tolerance 2023 🌸 As a non-profit dedicated to uplifting the lives of the B40 in Malaysia, we have witnessed the blossoming of communities as they come together with tolerance as the first petal. Tolerance, a seed in the garden of humanity, sprouts into a space where each individual is a unique flower. Our journey extends beyond tolerance, envisioning a garden where every bloom, despite differences, harmoniously coexists. Let's see humanity as flowers in one garden—distinct yet interconnected. As we commemorate this day, let's pledge to nurture not only tolerance but to cultivate acceptance, understanding, and unity. At SOLS Foundation, we believe in sowing the seeds of education and empowerment, fostering a garden where every individual is cherished as a unique bloom in the grand tapestry of life. Know someone who cultivates unity and acceptance in their daily actions? Tag or share this post with them. 💛 #InternationalDayofTolerance #UnityInDiversity #AcceptanceMatters #FlowersOfOneGarden #SOLSFoundation #ServeEducateEmpower

We are very pleased that our Head of Marketing and Communication, Varyan Griyandi, was one of the three speakers in a talk show held by PIRAC | Public Interest Research and Advocacy Center and Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) about the Doing Good Index (DGI) as the social and private sector representative. DGI itself is a study on the regulatory environment and the community where private capital is directed towards philanthropy. This index is an evidence-based resource for policymakers, philanthropists, academics, and non-profit organization leaders, offering deep insights and best practices to enhance and refine philanthropic giving. As Indonesia has been scored as a country that is “doing okay” on the index in the past 6 years, we are not doing a bad job. However, to remember that we have been scored in the same category for a very long time, we need to make clearer steps and more efforts to make our Indonesia “doing better” or even “doing well” on the index. Thus, in the talk show, Varyan talked about the opportunities and challenges for the social sector in facing the digital era and how, just like what we believe, collaboration can make a bigger impact on what we are doing to society. #Environment #Environmental #Philanthropy #DigitalGoodIndex #EnviroGuide

In the World Giving Index 🌎 Lithuania is ranked 109th out of 142 countries in terms of the percentage of the population donating money. How can we improve this score from a cultural funding perspective? 📈 As stated by our project managers Ieva Mikutavičiūtė and Giedre Pociute, the answer could be various incentives for private contributors. The Create Lithuania team, working at LR kultūros ministerija / LR Ministry of Culture, is exploring what could encourage residents to get more involved in funding diverse arts projects. After analysing best practices, they have pointed out the most promising European models to encourage private donations. These include: ✔ Tax incentives for individuals funding cultural projects, ✔ An efficient system of personal income tax allocation, ✔ Applying match-funding principles on a state budgetary level, ✔ Funds supporting culture that would be open for the private investments, ✔ The development of membership programmes. Feeling curious? Please check out the whole report: https://t.ly/Qw-nF. #CreateLithuania #culture #KurkLietuvai #art

#Happening in Indonesia 🇮🇩! We launch our first onsite bilateral technical assistance activity for non-profit organisations this week. Today and tomorrow, in Jakarta, the #EUGlobalFacility experts deliver a training under the banner "The Challenge and Opportunity in Implementing The FATF Recommendation 8". This technical assistance activity aims to delve deep into the nuanced relationship between domestic civil society, government regulatory frameworks, and the FATF. By doing so, it seeks to offer a comprehensive overview that not only educates but also empowers participants. “This workshop aims to serve as a crucial platform for CSOs, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the complexities of FATF Recommendation 8,” explains our Key Expert on Justice and Civil Society Mamuka Jgenti. “Through this, it aims to foster a more transparent, engaged, and understanding relationship between NPOs, the government, and regulatory bodies.” Participants can expect to explore various strategies to enhance their engagement with the sector, improve transparency, and ultimately, strengthen their compliance with international standards #AMLCFT #moneylaundering Ben David European Commission Tiziana Expertise France

On April 14, 2024, the finance section of Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 *featured an article titled "Wealthy Congregate in #Singapore, Ushering in a New #Philanthropic Landscape." The piece highlighted the increasing influx of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (#UHNWI) to Asia, where a quarter of the world's 400,000 individuals with a net worth exceeding USD 30 million reside. These individuals are notably committed to addressing critical social issues including education, healthcare, and environmental conservation, and are prepared to make substantial donations towards these causes. Singapore's reputation for stability and security has made it a preferred base for thousands of #familyoffices in recent years. These offices are not only seeking to manage wealth but are also actively engaging in local and international philanthropic efforts. This growing trend is positioning Singapore to evolve from a financial hub into a regional philanthropic center, potentially becoming the leading city for charity in Asia. In this context, Li Foundation was mentioned as one of four foundations actively participating in this transformative movement. The foundation is contributing to the philanthropic ecosystem by working collaboratively with other entities to address and support various social initiatives, reinforcing Singapore’s emerging status as the #PhilanthropyHub.

Without the right funding, there is simply no way that an NGO can put their values into action. So a good funding strategy is the bridge between our values and ideas, and to carry out the action needed to turn them into reality. New blog from MzN International: https://bit.ly/3S0SpC4

“Last year, we got additional funding to get more project participants to the project that was promoted on the website of iMPACT Direct. This year, iMPACT direct shared an opportunity for a grant that we successfully applied for.” 🗨️ Solomon Asiamah Okyere explains how the 3-year partnership with iMPACT direct helped his NGO to increase income over the years. It is one of the goals we have as iMPACT direct, because when underfunded locally-led NGOs increase their income, they can reach out to more people living in extreme poverty, and thus make more impact. 💗 Find all the impact we made for our partner-NGOs in 4 African countries in 2023 in our Annual Report 2023.
