This week has been incredible for Popcorn Kitchen Ltd and the team 😍🍿 One email, that’s all, the email stated ‘Congratulations, Popcorn Kitchen is a B Corp Corporation 😱. I had to pinch myself, Popcorn kitchen is a B Corp 🚀🫣🍿 When you’re a bustling challenger brand, success is often defined, not simply by the company you keep but the larger influence groups you become part of, which helps explain the immense sense of pride Popcorn Kitchen feels today having secured B-Corp status (June 24) to become part of an increasingly vocal 2,000 strong family of purpose-led businesses championing the very highest social, ethical and environmental standards. Our journey started in 2022, working with Paul Hargreaves CEO at Cotswold Fayre, a certified B Corporation who championed B Corp as a purpose led approach to running your business, I was hooked, a purpose led business, tell me more !!! As a small team, resource was always going to be an issue so in 2023 Jill Smith 🎁 told me about internships from Cranfield School of Management I put the wheels in motion and we were given the green light for two ( Vaisakh Kadesseriyil and Aditya Solanki ) MSc undergraduates in Business Management to undertake a four month internship to lay out the foundations for Popcorn Kitchen’s bid aided and abetted by the indomitable Andy Hawkins Hawkins (B-Corp ambassador) and the irrepressible Elizabeth Tate Tate (B-Corp consultant) who joined forces with the Popcorn Kitchen team, including Sorrell Cowen from Reewild to begin off-setting our carbon footprint and to ensure no stone was left unturned in the quest for B-Corp acceptance. HLF is proud to offer a winning co-op experience that offers students endless opportunities for growth and meaningful connections!      We recently caught up with Morgan K., Engineering Co-op Student at our Lunenburg facility, to see how his placement is going. According to Jeremiah Hoffman, Director of Engineering Innovation, “Morgan is performing exceptionally well in his second internship term with us. He has become an invaluable member of the team, especially during the plant engineer's paternity leave.”  Let’s hear more from Morgan!        Were you a seafood fan before joining HLF? What’s your favourite product?  Despite not being a huge fan of seafood, I do really enjoy our Beer Battered Haddock. What’s been the best part of your placement with HLF so far?  The best part of working at HLF has been the people and the amount of support I am provided to enable the easier completion of my work. Have you worked on any special projects during your placement? If so, can you tell us more about them?  Yes, I have been working on the installation and start-up of a new pack line. I supported the second shift during the installation, and I’m currently working to support the project close out.   What’s your proudest accomplishment since starting at HLF?   I’m proud to be trusted with meaningful work. It’s been a great experience to work on the new pack line and have my input and decisions respected.  How has your placement impacted your perception of HLF and/or the seafood industry?  I never realized how big the industry, or the company really was. What advice would you give to other students considering an internship at HLF?  Ask tons of questions! There is a lot of experience within the company and the seafood industry and there are so many interesting things to learn. Shaping tomorrow's leaders

This week I worked a total of 3 hours on Tuesday and Thursday. During my internship at Maverick Chocolate this week I learned more skills relating to my entrepreneurship course, as well as skills that I can use to help out at on-site. To start helping the business in more ways I learned how to de-mold the chocolate bars to prepare them for packaging. By doing this I was able to help get all of the prepared Ruya and Prohibition bars de-molded and ready for packaging. Relating to the current topics of the course I had the opportunity to discuss revenue models with Mr. Picton. I learned of the purpose of forecasting revenue/profits as well as how they effect the process of planning for the future of the business. What I can takeaway from this week is that by having the statistics necessary to forecast a revenue one can plan on how they will develop. I can apply this to my current and future endeavors by adapting my plans based on the data that I gain through my development. #TheBusinessLaunchExperience @TheLaunchBusinessExperience
