As our energy landscape evolves, grids must accommodate renewable energy sources. Existing infrastructure plays a crucial role in fast-tracking solar connections, however, it is time for a forward-thinking approach, ensuring grid expansion is matched with robust flexibility solutions. ⚡Why do we need #flexibility? Flexibility helps our grids to adapt quickly to the energy transition, while we wait for infrastructure to catch up. In simple terms, flexibility allows us to do more with less, achieving decarbonisation as efficiently as possible. In 2023, the EU Science, Research and Innovation has already shown that we need to double our flexibility capacity by 2030, yet we are falling short! In addition, in SolarPower Europe's recent #MissionSolar 2040 report, we break down the impact of unlocking flexibility solutions on reducing total energy system costs ✅ . 🌞🇪🇸 Here is some fantastic news from the sunny Iberian Peninsula, just in time to wrap up the summer! 🔋 Our first large-scale solar project (HV) in Spain is taking shape in Ciudad Real (Castilla-La Mancha). This venture will feature a capacity of 65 MWp, covering 90 hectares and incorporating almost 105,000 panels. Once completed, this project is expected to generate 131,650 MWh annually, with an exceptional output of 2000 MWh/MWp – one of the highest in Europe!
