January 28, 1942 - 8th Air Force Activated The U.S. Army Air Forces activated the Eighth at Savannah, Georgia with three major subordinate units: the VIII Bomber Command (BC), the VIII Fighter Command (FC), and the VIII Ground Air Services Command (GASC). During World War II, under the leadership of such generals as Ira Eaker and Jimmy Doolittle, the VIII BC (then Eighth Air Force) formed the greatest air armada in history. By mid-1944, the unit had a total strength of more than 200,000 people, and it could send more than 2,000 four-engine bombers and 1,000 fighters on a single mission against enemy targets in Europe. For this reason, Eighth Air Force is commonly known as the "Mighty Eighth." From May 1942 to July 1945, the Eighth planned and precisely executed America's daylight strategic bombing campaign against Nazi-occupied Europe, and in doing so the organization compiled an impressive war record. That record, however, carried a high price. Capable aircraft like F-22 Raptor is a key requirement for air dominance.

Dear Ukrainian Warfighters... Have you ever noticed how there are NOT TicToc videos of current or social media posts about future combat operations involving the US Army Special Forces, US Navy SEALS, USMC Strikers, 75th Ranger Regiment, Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta, 82nd Airborne Division, or any other US military operations? The reason is simple, it's a really stupid idea to share such things which the enemy is watching and taking notes. It's even considered a crime to share such nonsense and especially when it jumps the chain of command and tells 5ws about the unit and the defenders in the unit. What's more surprising is that the American General Staff is unaware that Ukrainian units regularly post these OPSEC violations on TicToc and WhatNot. So obviously the American General Staff can't suggest to Ukrainian General Staff about simple OPSEC violations and how they lead to a jackpot. Or they're timid...or maybe it's a genius plan in the manner of Sun Tzu. Maybe not.

Plans are for the US military to retire these. That is absolutely absurd as is the intention of the US Air Force with the A-10. Instead, these aircraft should be turned over to the air National Guard and Air Force reserve as well as the Naval/Marine reserve. Furthermore volunteers that have retired from the military can assist in the maintenance of these aircraft. There is still a place for these, even though they are not stealthy, they can be pulled out of the reserves and air National Guard to be used in the time of warfare. Do you have spent billions and billions and dollars on aircraft and then just retire them to the boneyard is absolutely stupidity and a waste of our tax dollars , as well as a decrease in our capabilities. If I were president of the United States, I would sign an executive order to maintain these aircraft on a sideline basis, primarily with volunteers and reserves. Retired naval and Air Force pilots could volunteer as auxiliary. Furthermore, students in ROTC in colleges could volunteer to train and be back up as well. With a volunteer Force at state levels, essentially Militias these would serve ax security of the states. The F-22, a critical component of the United States Global Strike Task Force, is designed to project air dominance, rapidly and at great distances and defeat threats attempting to deny access to US Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft.

https://lnkd.in/ew8Jq99h Interesting video that discusses ADM Caudle, Fleet Forces Command moving in a period of high OPTEMPO, from the Fleet Response Plan to a "Plug and Play" of Individual Surface Combatants in a Carrier Strike Group. With a "300 Ship Navy" it would allow 100 in operational tasking, 100 in planned maintenance, and 100 in training and certification. Not a lot of margin of error for Surge Operations. During the GWOT we departed from a balanced Forward Deployed Naval Forces model and decommissioned several hulls over time.

One of the great honors of my Special Forces days was to have worked with each of the five Tier I units in the arsenal. You don't realize it as it's happening, the missions come fast and often. A highlight for me was serving as commander of the US Southern Command Regional Survey Team, RST. We did so many things that most soldiers wouldn't dream of doing, and they didn't know what we were doing. Fact was, the team next door often didn't know what the other ODAs or ODBs were doing. A lot of deployments, and it only picked up after 9.11, so respect to the modern warfighters. Next project will involve bringing warfighters from the battlefields of Ukraine to teach and train their American counterparts. The USA has taught Ukraine about the "how-to" of warfighting tactics, techniques and procedures. Now it's time for Ukraine to teach the teachers. Radio Free Ukraine is on task, with an incredible team of international volunteers. Rock solid people of Goodwill.
