There’s a lot that can be said about life at sea. But the stories worth telling, don’t always have to be the biggest. The greatest of stories come from the smallest of moments. Come and live a story worth telling https://lnkd.in/geYWXwn #YourNavyStory #OurPeople

About us
The Royal Australian Navy is a modern military organisation operating advanced vessels and aircraft with personnel expertly trained to defend Australia and its interests, and perform a variety of maritime duties. The Navy also engages in a variety of peacetime activities such as search & rescue and humanitarian assistance. In accurately representing Australia's multi-cultural society, Navy men and women are drawn from a diverse range of social and ethnic backgrounds. From engineering to medicine, and public relations to chaplaincy, the Navy offers many fulfilling positions. Depending on their role, Navy officers and sailors can be posted to any one of 16 naval bases and command offices across Australia, home to more than 18,000 sailors and officers, though much of their time will be spent serving at sea. The Navy is equipped with a formidable fleet of ships and helicopters, featuring sophisticated technology that supports a variety of strategic needs. The Royal Australian Navy was the first of the Australian Defence services to be founded more than a century ago, born of the ships and resources of the separate colonial navies.

We are committed to learning from the experience of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veterans Suicide. On this World Mental Health Day, we remind ourselves that it's okay not to be okay, and that there is help available. Royal Australian Navy personnel, current and former, should familiarise themselves with the resources available to help maintain their mental health and the health of their mates: https://lnkd.in/g6TTQfkx

The safety of our people is critical for #AusNavy to achieve its mission of defending Australia and its national interests. The procedures we have in place, and our training, are what help keep us safe. At Navy, every month is Safe Work Month. Safety is everyone’s business.

As part of Navy’s Deployment Support Trial, DMFS and #AusNavy presented Child of the ADF Medallions to HMAS Perth families. The medallion recognises the resilience of our Navy families, and the strength and support they provide to #OurPeople. HMAS Perth is currently deployed, and their families are participating in Navy’s Deployment Support Trial which aims to improve the support provided to Navy families during deployments. Navy and DMFS are actively exploring new ways to support our Navy families. To find out more about the ADF Medallion program and be connected with your local area office, please call the DMFS Helpline on 1800 624 608.

A wish came true for 11-year-old Saxon who had a personal tour of HMAS Canberra III with his family. Organised through Make-A-Wish Australia, Saxon had made a wish to ‘tour an aircraft carrier and its aircraft’ so #AusNavy stepped in, and with some help from our friends from Royal Australian Air Force and the United States Marine Corps, Saxon’s wish really did come true! 📸 LSIS Iggy Roberts #YourADF #OurPeople #HMASCanberra
