Today's #SolarSaturday post is highlighting the 3rd #solaranniversary of the Kaupo Community Association in Maui. The nonprofit received a $25,000 #SolarMoonshotProgram grant in 2021 thanks to our philanthropic funder #LeftCoastFund. The clean energy project was designed and installed by IBEW Local 569contractor Aloha Solar Power, whose founder grew up in Maui. "The Kaupō Community Association is honored to receive support from the Solar Moonshot Program which has enabled us to power our newly restored Kaupō Community Resource Center with 100% renewable energy! This special building — formerly a historic 1920s school that had fallen into disrepair — has truly become the heart of our small, rural Hawaiian community. As Kaupō, Hawai'i, and the world continue to navigate the physical, emotional, social, and economic toll of the coronavirus pandemic, indigenous communities across the globe are reclaiming ancestral wisdom and pathways to forge a more resilient future. This important project has taken our community one significant step forward along our journey to reclaim self-sufficiency and return to our traditional practices of aloha 'āina and mālama 'āina (love and care for the land),” said Makalapua Kanuha, Board President. One year ago this week Maui was struck by devastating wildfires, leaving behind a path of deadly destruction and displacing countless families and businesses. A year later, the community still needs our support. Please consider donating to verified relief funds to help those affected rebuild and recover. Your contribution makes a difference. 🌺🙏 #MauiStrong #WildfireRelief 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gCYrjZqY

Group CEO, Water For Life Project | MBA, ACIB, AMNIM/Non-profit Volunteering Expert, Global Strategic Advisor
Passion can drive us to achieve great things! For me, that passion is seeing clean water accessible to all. As a Group Chief Executive Officer, I have spearheaded the Water For Life Project, an initiative aimed at bringing clean water to rural communities and urban slums. I forsake prestigious engagements, including the board membership of some companies and international non-profit, to focus on making a success of this ideal. It's heart-wrenching to see people, especially women and children, walking miles to fetch dirty water for daily use. Water that's not even fit for washing, let alone drinking. This reality has led to a plethora of water-borne diseases, infant and juvenile fatalities, and a general decline in education and economic growth. The Water For Life Project has been able to achieve much in such a short time. We have reached many communities and touched many lives. With the first GoFundMe initiatived by dee russell-thomas, we were able to dig a borehole that is presently serving over 4,000 people in three autonomous communities. Water boreholes last almost forever; We have encouraged people to come together as a family or friends to donate a water borehole in a community with their name annotated or in memory of a beloved, as a befitting and lasting legacy. Clean and drinkable water supply is not only a precursor for good health but also a sustainer of life, quality living standards, good education, better hygiene, and helps tremendously increase economic growth amongst rural folks. We are appealing to many people to support this worthy cause by donating to our new GoFundMe campaign. Join us in transforming communities and impacting lives. Donate today to help support access to clean drinking water in a new community. https://gofund.me/639d6b22 Hope Ambassadors and Childcare Organization (Account Details) United Bank For Africa Plc Naira Current A/c 1016421700 $ Domiciliary A/c 3002263695 £ Domiciliary A/c 3004233667 #CleanWaterandSanitation2030 #SDG3 #SDG4 #SDG6 #RuralDevelopment #ImpactingLives #TransformingLives #TransformingCommunities #BetterLife #RevivingTheHopeInHope

The Climate and Equity Lab, is a collaborative initiative by Gore Mutual Foundation, Social Innovation Canada (SI Canada), and York University’s Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, aimed at understanding how climate change impacts vulnerable groups in Canadian urban areas. During the Discovery phase, the Lab collaborated with stakeholders to conduct a systematic review of municipal policies addressing housing disparities and climate vulnerabilities for low-income renters, homeowners, and unhoused individuals in Toronto, Vancouver, and Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge. Following the Lab’s research, key factors were identified to effectively address vulnerabilities caused by climate change. Gore Mutual Foundation has committed $250,000 to award five $50,000 grants to charitable organizations and registered non-profits working together to advance one or more “levers of change” acknowledged in the report. Apply by August 16, 2024. https://lnkd.in/ePBh4eW6 Download the full report to explore the Lab’s findings and recommendations ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eMr2ibjj Learn more about the Climate and Equity Lab https://lnkd.in/eiSi9JqN Gore Mutual Insurance #ClimateEquity #ClimateAction #SocInn

Have you heard of the Global Returns Project? They are on a mission to use money to help heal the planet and combat climate change. They do this by investing in projects that make a real difference for the environment, like planting trees, supporting sustainable farming, and developing renewable energy sources. The best part is that these investments also make money for the people who put their money in. So, it's a win-win situation – helping the Earth while also making some cash. They've got an important fundraising deadline coming up at the end of the month, so it's crucial to spread the word about what they're doing and rally support for their efforts to create positive impacts globally, benefiting both investors and the planet. They are aiming to raise £150k for high-impact climate charities. As the sun rises on Earth Day 2024 I have mixed emotions. Over the weekend I dug into #The2024GivingReport from #CanadaHelps. Thank you for this critical tool. As a fundraiser for #EvergreenCanada, an environmental charity focused on transforming public places in our cities for the health of people and our planet, there's lots to be frustrated and anxious about, such as this alarming statistic: "32 percent of Canadians say climate change or protecting our environment is a top cause for them, and almost half (48 percent) of Canadians express anxiety about climate change on at least somewhat of a regular basis....Yet, only 1.5 percent of donations through CanadaHelps are made to environmental charities." But the report also rightly points to the power of social connection and hope to galvanize giving to environmental causes, and, in fact, to all charities. Rather than stoking fear and alarm all the time and pointing fingers at each other, let's realize we need to come together. We need each other to solve the big, thorny problems of our day. And the magic is when we are truly connected. At Evergreen, we are working to bring people together in real life in green public spaces that can be joyful and restorative, peaceful and vibrant. Improving public spaces can have profound impact on social, mental, physical, and environmental health. This Earth Day consider reading this report and thinking about the ways you can bring people together, and help us create better public places. We are turning our cities from grey to green. Won't you come join us? I look forward to meeting you there! https://lnkd.in/g4jt3aXU

Our NGO Selfless Sewa recently conducted a cleanliness drive at Yamuna Ghat. We need to save this planet for our upcoming generations to have a good future here and ensure that there is no further damage to our planet 🌍 There are a lot of pros of keeping our surroundings clean- reduces pollution, preserves our biosphere, protects endangered species, so if we can create a better situation to live in, then why not. Live Life Cleaner, make Earth Greener🌳 as our environment is no one's property to destroy; it's everyone's responsibility to protect 🌍🩵 • • • • #LearnWithSelflessSewa #HopeForAll #EducationForAll #HopeInAction #LearningWithoutLimits #HopeFoundationWorks #socialgood #volunteer #HopeForChange #socialwork #EmpowerWithHope #sustainability #impact #charity #YourCity #volunteering #helpothers #supportneeded #kindness #empowerment #theoryofchange #SupportSelflesssewa #makingdifference #nonprofit #humanity

In a world facing increasingly complex challenges, Social Foundations have become a pillar of hope for millions of people and their communities. However, as needs grow, so do the financial challenges they must navigate. In this paper, we explore an innovative approach to strengthening the financial capacity of Social Foundations, allowing them to not rely exclusively on sporadic donations. We immerse ourselves in a RECURRING DONATIONS PLAN that seeks to exponentially increase the income of the Social Foundations, thus ensuring the continuity and effectiveness of their programs towards the vulnerable population. Throughout these pages, we will discover how Social Foundations benefit from alliances with water bottling companies. This strategic collaboration not only seeks to generate additional income for the Social Foundations, but also focuses on the promotion of key values, such as sustainability and universal access to roads, floors, furniture and buildings that are manufactured with waste in PACKAGING ECOLOGICAL SUPRA RECYCLABLE. https://lnkd.in/dbfQKsGR Cordialmente, FREDY CASTELLANOS BOTERO info@r-usable.com +34 664524914 +57 3102877780 #Greenpeace #HumanRightsWatch #InternationalRescueCommittee #MalalaFund #PartnersInHealth #RainforestAlliance #ShelterBox #TheElders #WFP #WorldWildlifeFund #UNICEF #ACFInternational #AccionContraElHambre #ACLU #Aflatoun #AidForAfrica #AldeasInfantiles #AlianzaPorLaSolidaridad #AmigosDeLaTierra #AmnistiaInternacional

Our wind farms are helping to decarbonise the grid, but did you know they also bring considerable investment into the communities living nearby? For instance, the Fallago Environment Fund, has awarded more than £2 million to a huge range of projects across the Scottish Borders, since it launched in 2013. The Fallago Environment Fund is funded by Roxburghe Estates, Federated Hermes and EDF Renewables UK. Many of those receiving support from the Fallago Environment Fund will have had their funds matched. In fact, it's estimated that an extra £10 has been raised for every £1 donation from the Fund... which is a huge boost to the local area. The Fund has supported projects focused on: 🔸 Habitat restoration 🔸 Historic building preservation 🔸 New museums 🔸 Support for vulnerable residents and young people 🔸 Community events 🔸Covid-19 support Pictured (left-right) are Liam Haig, Area Manager for EDF Renewables UK and His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe. #CommunityBenefitFunds #Scotland #Communities #Sustainability #OnshoreWind
