I work in the intersection of data + community inclusion + nonprofits. I also work very hard as a first-generation immigrant and BIPOC entrepreneur to establish community trust with my brand and me.
So, I understand first-hand (data-wise) that underrepresented communities need these two things in finding success: one, to know they are not crazy to connect their alienated feelings with everyday microaggressions, and two, a committed, institutional support towards everything that they need/feel because of aspects of their being.
This is one of the reasons that I was thrilled to work with Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience.
This organization is committed to making a safe, inclusive, welcoming space for the culture, art, and history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
It is a big undertaking (look at all the disturbing hate crimes in the past 12 months!)
And they are doing a great job at it. I know this confidently because I did their member and donor survey this year – which brought back a bulk of good data on community perception towards this commitment.
So, if you do not follow them already, this is your invitation.
But besides the experience, I am also incredibly grateful to my friend, mentor, coach, and now a client, JoAnn, for these kind words about our collaboration on this survey.
