Operating at 80GHz means that the antenna is designed to transmit and receive electromagnetic waves with a wavelength of around 3.75 mm in free space Patch antennas are a type of microstrip antenna that are relatively easy to fabricate with RMPD and can be designed to be compact and low-profile. They typically consist of a radiating patch (metallic conductor) on a substrate material. The patch is fed by a microstrip transmission line. 80GHz is part of the spectrum being considered for high-capacity wireless communication systems like 5G and beyond.
