Co-Founder at Equity | Fostering Responsible Finance | Sustainability Board & BSc Management Student at ESCP
I firmly believe in the importance of youth representation, a cause I have advocated for as a member of the Young Trustees Movement, as ESCP Business School's first-ever student to serve a full mandate on the Board of Trustees of the ESCP London Campus, and more recently as a member of the #Delegation of the #ProjetJeunesses by think tank Le Cercle des économistes, where we are developing various policy recommendations that will be shared at the Rencontres Economiques d'Aix-en-Provence #REAIX2024. My passion for youth representation goes back to my high school days at Halcyon London International School, where, as part of the student #jobinterviewers panel, I would interview candidates for staff roles and share feedback with #leadership. I also sat down with #delegates of the French #MinistryofFinance and #MinistryofEducation to share my experience in a tech-forward IB school. I took my advocacy to our #ModelUnitedNations, for which I had the privilege of interviewing Brazil's former #MinisterofEducation, Cristovam Buarque. Today, I find it more important than ever to encourage #youthrepresentation as a tool for preparing #youth to be future leaders, but also one to make current leadership more #inclusive and #sustainable, which leads me to a fantastic initiative called #EuropAgora. Over two days, May 22nd to 23rd, it will bring young people from around the world to the #EuropeanParliament in #Strasbourg for a #ModelEuropeanUnion to #debate and #vote on #policy! This #conference is all the more relevant in today's political context, as it will take place only two weeks before the future of #Europe will be decided with the #EuropeanElections in June, for which only 42% of 18 to 25-year-olds participate. If you want to be an actor of #change, immerse yourself in a #European experience, and meet like-minded #changemakers, be sure to check it out! ➔ https://lnkd.in/eSV5YENt or contact Joe Pearn for any questions!

“Engaging with the Celebrating Impact competition is one of the best things I’ve done since entering academia. As someone who’d previously been in practice in the law, it was wonderful to be supported to use research to impact legal practice. The competition process and prize funds gave me confidence, and the ability to extend the reach of my research impact well beyond academia.” “The Prize provides welcome publicity, encouragement, and funds that may further enhance research impact.” “Entering for and receiving this Prize has been beneficial to our team’s sense of accomplishment and positive in communicating with our collaborators whose partnership contributes so much to the effectiveness of our work. The Prize is also recognised by current and prospective funders as an indicator of confidence in the high quality of our work.” “Winning the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize for International Impact has been the proudest achievement of my career. Developing the application helped me to see that my research had changed the lives of children all over the world – something I never thought possible – and winning the prize gave me the increased profile and confidence to develop the impacts further.” Just a sample of the experiences from past ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize winners. Entries are open now until 22 February to enter this year's awards, with five prize categories on offer. The annual #ImpactPrize is available to ESRC-supported researchers who have created or enabled outstanding impact. Regional Director, Higher Education, SSA | Programme Management Specialist| Top 25 Nigerians Changing the Face of Education | Board Chair | Global Technical Committee Member | Speaker|
More from November – The Going Global Conference 2023 In November, the British Council hosted the 2023 edition of its Going Global Conference. This annual event and platform is designed to support engagement, collaboration, and learning exchange between global leaders within the Higher Education space. This year’s event took place in Edinburgh with about 400 delegates in attendance and focused its discussions on establishing sustainable, scalable, and equitable partnerships in tertiary education. As the producer of the final plenary, "Next Gen Voices: Co-Creating the Future of Education with African Youth," I collaborated with a powerhouse of talented and extremely articulate individuals, including Lukwesa Burak, 'Tope Sanni, MBA, Temilade Salami, Aloysious Tumusiime, Penelope Brooke Thompson and our honorary youth panelist Kevin Ibeh. Together, we aimed to spotlight the evolving aspirations of young Africans and initiate discussions on inclusive processes, giving young people agency, voice, and choice in the knowledge production process. Key points made by our youth panel include: · Our needs and aspirations have changed and will continue to do so. · We need flexible systems that incorporate our needs, support us as our aspirations evolve, and take into consideration the changing nature of jobs and rapidly growing areas like the creative industry. · We have a great love for our countries and the continent and would like to see our communities grow and prosper. We see ourselves as critical to this process but also need the support and foundation provided by fit-for-purpose learning systems and institutions. · Even though the learning and knowledge development systems have been established to support us, we are not confident that our voices or opinions matter. While condensing such a robust discussion into a one-hour timeframe was ambitious, the session made strides toward its objectives. Consider this a taster session, paving the way for continued discussions in 2024 across various platforms. As we prepare for the Going Global Conference in Africa in 2024, we invite our friends, partners, and sector stakeholders to join us on this journey. Stay tuned for specific event details to be released in early 2024. In the meantime, enjoy the video below which served as a catalyst and scene setter for the panel discussion in Edinburgh. Let's shape the future of education together! #AfricanYouth #FutureLeadership #GoingGlobal2024

I'm not late ! They say I still have a couple of days (at least in France) to wish everyone a Happy New Year ! 🥳🎉 When the times are difficult, personally or professionally, individually or collectively, it may seem quite vain to try and wish each other to have a good new year. That's also what I thought for a while. But I changed my mind. When you experience major challenges or even setbacks, cycles can make you hopeful. 💫 And the cycle of a year that finishes to leave room to another is no small thing. Especially when the year brings so much to the table ! 🇪🇺 European elections in June 🇺🇸 American elections in November 🥇 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer (in a city that we are not sure if it is ready yet 😅) to only name a few... There will be a lot of opportunities to get together. Or to fall apart. And that, is only based on the choices that we will make collectively. I believe that I can also do my share through my work and a lot of exciting projects have already started in that direction : ⭐ Continuing to help companies and institutions to become more diverse and inclusive places. Representation matters, it is high time that we stop hiding behind comfortable excuses and start doing the work ! ⭐ Carrying on my education mission with young people in universities and schools so that they have the appropriate tools to be tomorrow's inspiring leaders. ⭐ Keeping on spreading my knowledge of the European Union, so that everyone understand the structure and realise how much power they can have once they know how to use it, and even... ⭐ Setting foot in sustainable finance ! And learning how companies can genuinely use the environmental, social and governance investing (and all the legislation around it!) to try and do their share to make the world a better place. I look forward to all those beautiful missions and all the ones that may follow. And I wish you all the best for this new year 🍀 I bring it a lot of ✨hope✨ along with quite some determination 💪🏽 ❓ And you, what are you bringing into this new year ? This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) , where I gained valuable insights into the world of policy making. The program was packed with informative sessions and engaging discussions, and I left with a newfound understanding of the skills and steps required to make effective policies. Over the course of the program, I learned that good policy making begins with problem identification, followed by setting an agenda, policy formulation, policy legitimization, policy implementation, and finally, policy evaluation. These six steps provide a clear framework for tackling complex issues and developing solutions that can drive positive change. In addition to this structured approach, I also learned about the essential skills required to be an effective policy maker. These include reading, research, communication, writing, leadership, negotiation, and advocacy. By developing these skills, policymakers can gather information, analyze data, communicate effectively, and build support for their policies. The program also emphasized the importance of continuous learning, career development, and networking. I learned that seeking knowledge and staying up-to-date on relevant topics is crucial in the fast-paced world of policy making. Building a strong career and network can open doors to new opportunities and provide support throughout one's professional journey. Finally, I took away some valuable reminders from the program, including the importance of staying focused on long-term goals and avoiding compromises that may undermine our values. I also learned the importance of staying aware of trends and adapting to changing circumstances. Overall, my experience at AESP was enriching and empowering. I left the program feeling equipped with the knowledge and skills required to make a positive impact in the world of policy making.

[FROM THE MAIN STAGE AT #BCCONF24] “I think the two most durable products we produce are #knowledge and #leadership. We get young people—researchers, graduate students and postdocs, assistant and associate research scientists—involved in this work. They come and learn how important these problems are, and how to investigate the solutions. They get addicted to doing this kind of research, and then they go out into the world, where they can teach others.” -Dr. Indy Burke, Dean, Yale School of the Environment, on her groundbreaking carbon capture work with FedEx, an investment FedEx has made not just for its own sustainability goals, but for providing solutions and expertise for the world. https://lnkd.in/gHbAgK_U #carboncapture #aviation #emissions #climatechange #innovation #socialimpact #environmental #ESG #sustainability
