Our first LEAD for Woman OC’s in person event 2024 in the books! What an inspiring and uplifting panel Alex, Hassan and Nila. Thank you to this amazing group for putting it together and allowing me to support. A few highlights I took away: -Be authentic to who you are today- that can be different through your carrear. -Always set a personal and professional goal- check progress, use balance model- are you in line. -It’s ok to say No if you know you can give your all- but have an alternative solution or person. -Lead by example- and foster a good work life balance for your employee’s- sometimes work wins and sometimes life wins. BOFA is a great company that offers different ways to support, roles that fit each individual and the ability to excell.

Here are three compelling reasons why being part of such a community can drive women leaders toward greater heights: 1️⃣ Empowering Networks: These communities offer mentorship, opportunities, and a platform to share experiences, fostering growth and resilience. 2️⃣ Enhanced Visibility: Participation amplifies recognition, opening doors to collaborations and increased visibility. 3️⃣ Resourceful Learning: They serve as knowledge hubs, providing tailored resources and skill-building sessions. Organizations play a pivotal role in nurturing and sustaining these supportive communities: ✨ Cultivate Inclusive Spaces: Foster a culture where diverse voices are heard, valued, and celebrated. Provide platforms and forums that encourage collaboration and mutual support among women leaders. ✨ Invest in Development: Allocate resources for programs specifically designed to empower women leaders, including mentorship initiatives, leadership training, and networking events. ✨ Advocate and Recognize: Champion the achievements of women leaders within and outside the organization. Advocate for their visibility and ensure their contributions are duly recognized and celebrated. Empowerment doesn’t happen in isolation—it thrives within communities that uplift and support each other. Let’s build and sustain these communities within our organizations, ensuring every woman leader has the resources and network she needs to succeed.

Wise words from Alan Waxman. I have always seen it as a weak spot that law firms often don’t place enough emphasis on or provide sufficient resources for their attorneys to develop management skills. I 100% agree that good leaders get to know their people (no one should feel like a fungible billable unit), are open with their team about goals (it isn’t just partners who deserve to understand why a certain transaction or client is important) and aren’t afraid to admit when they are wrong (what is it about lawyers specifically that makes this so hard?). I’ve always said that I absolutely can’t achieve my goals without the support of a good team so it’s important to value, respect and trust those who support what you are doing (and to support them in their goals as well).
