Here are a few key takeaways: ✨Write detailed and concrete job descriptions to avoid misunderstandings about the role's expectations, as there are many differences between sales manager, sales development representative, lead generation, account executive, etc. ✨A test task is essential to see the flow of candidates' thoughts. A basic exercise is the 30-60-90 plan. ✨Sales specialists should ask questions about the basic salary and bonus during the first interview and focus on greater rewards for greater results. ✨Many companies require salespeople to work from the office. Employers need to understand the goal of working from the office, as many sales are conducted with clients from other locations. ✨It is almost impossible to expect salespeople to be great at both sales and a specific domain. Good salespeople are adaptive and understand trends. Some companies hire bankers with a great network instead of sales specialists. However, the company can grow domain expertise among the salespeople they hire. ✨And the last thing I love: hire people whose basic standard and inner ethic is to work and perform outstandingly. Looking for a sales position is a job... So treat it like one. When looking for a job, I was clear that I needed a daily routine AND a tracking system to hold me accountable. When you don't have a job and you're looking for one, it's very easy to entertain yourself with a zillion things that don't matter. Such as walking your dog, fixing the living room door, or doing laundry... If you're looking for a sales job and spending the majority of your day on low-importance tasks... STOP. You need to apply to lots of open positions and talk to hiring managers, that's it. I recommend that you pick a number of job openings you want to apply for each day and do that first thing. I chose 5 applications a day. And to hold myself accountable and to score each offer I applied to, I created a scorecard. (You can grab a copy of mine down below if you like.) I chose 8 criteria for each job opening and assigned a score to each. That way, if a company came back to me with an offer, and in the case that I had different offers to choose from, I would have a better clue about which one I preferred the most. On the other hand, the scorecard helped me stay accountable. I didn't stop applying each day until 5 more rows of the scorecard were filled in. That is how I created a basic system that I needed to complete each day. And six weeks later, I landed my sales job. In my next post, I will talk about a crucial part of this whole process. What’s the best way to cover the territory of a sales rep on parental leave? In December, we hired a pregnant sales rep. And soon, she’ll be going on parental leave! This is how we’re currently thinking about coverage: 🏋️ Her manager will take over (most of) her pipeline - and I'll take a few deals myself too 💰 She will get full credit for all deals closed from her pipeline while she is out (no splitting commission, no double-paying since no rep will be put on this pipeline) 💻 We are hiring a part-time temp sales rep to set meetings, hold intro calls and build top of funnel for her while she is out (this is a former Parentaly sales rep who we love and continue to work with as a contractor) Important to note: our sales cycle is LONG (6-18 months). The goal with this plan is to ensure that the pregnant AE does not miss out on commission for all of her hard work to date, and also avoid her returning to work after four months out with zero new pipeline. I know this is a hot topic many of us have dealt with many times … would love to hear folks’ thoughts!

I am working on an Account Manager/ Customer Service role for a Food Company. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about this role. It is an on-site role, offering generous benefits and compensation. In this role, you will: Work directly with the Field Sales Representative and one rep covering Wisconsin, assisting them with managing orders from the stores and entering in orders. Cultivating loyal customers to retain business from incoming calls/emails. Act as a liaison between customers, transportation, and order processing as needed The current call volume is about 20-50 calls/emails per day – this will increase over the next months. What You will learn and start doing in the first 90 days: Product Knowledge: You will learn the product line and get familiar with all the products offered. Order Management: You will start taking calls, responding to emails, and entering orders for existing clients. Coach the Clients: Educate them as orders are entered, as orders come in – what additional products could the client use. An example might be: The customer could benefit from a larger quantity for a deeper discount, etc.
