Earlier this year, London’s O2 Arena held its first ‘carbon-removed’ events – four concerts by British band The 1975. Now it has revealed how they went. More than 545 tonnes of residual carbon were extracted and removed across the four nights: “the equivalent yearly electricity usage of 395 average homes,” according to the venue’s owner AEG Europe. One of the findings from the pilot was that 75.7% of emissions came from fan travel, with the carbon-removal costs for that handled partly by a 90p addition to the price of tickets for the gigs. The O2 worked with carbon-removal firm CUR8 and sustainable events organisation A Greener Future (AGF) on the pilot. The past weekend was the first DGTL festival of the year, in Amsterdam. Last year this time we (HyperCulture.nl) were commissioned by Bravoure to create the key visual and an array of visual assets for the DGTL 2024 festivals. The theme for 2024 is 'Synergy' — "The combined power of the collective. An exchange of energy, a mutual participation in a moment of liminality." After an extensive research and development phase we landed on a solution that felt like serendipity. https://lnkd.in/eXvhfjfU

Breaking news! 🎵 The music industry is decarbonising… Massive Attack is leading the way #climateemergency We are very proud to announce that Volta Trucks will be Official Partner for the Massive Attack Tour. 🇬🇧 The show – an all-day festival called Act 1.5 on Clifton Down, a large public park in the west of Bristol, on 25 August – will also feature performances from Irish folk band Lankum and US rapper Killer Mike, among other acts. "The show production is pioneering in all aspects of decarbonisation and will create a blueprint for the way live shows can be produced," Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja, also known as 3D, tells the BBC. Congratulations to all on the developing the UK's largest EV Charging hub and the Partnership with NEC Group. I would appreciate if you could also charge up bp leadership into sorting out the bp uk db pensions scandal. Readers following #bp posts will often see comments from pensioners. Why? ➡️ bp has badly let down its UK #pension scheme members. And in a US pension case a federal judge has accused the company of having "committed fraud or similarly inequitable conduct". ➡️ For two consecutive years, the company has refused recommendations of the UK BP pension fund Trustees for below inflation cost of living pension increases. #BP won’t honour long standing pension policy commitments. The fund can afford these rises without bp contributing a penny. ➡️ This pension dispute deserves wider attention, to provide a more balanced view of the company.
