Congratulations to all the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation winners. The Rural Doctors Movement has shown us the strength of community-led change. By bringing together local doctors and advocating for policy reforms, they’ve created a grassroots solution that bridges the gap between accessibility and quality in healthcare. Their work exemplifies the true spirit of Swaraj (sovereignty), empowering communities to take control of their health and futures. Farwiza Farhan have been unwavering champions of the Leuser Ecosystem in Sumatra, defending the sovereignty of nature and the rights of Adivasi communities. Their fight for the environment is a powerful reminder that protecting our natural world is inseparable from protecting the people who are most intimately connected to it. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong has devoted her life to the healing of war-torn communities, proving that it is never too late to seek justice and provide relief to those who have suffered. Her dedication speaks to the deep human need for reconciliation and the relentless pursuit of peace. Phuntsho, Karma, and the Loden Foundation embody the balance between honoring tradition and embracing innovation. By fostering entrepreneurship and economic development, they are creating a circular economy that respects the past while confidently stepping into the future. The spirit of Adivasi Swaraj, circularity, and a safer, more inclusive world lives on through the incredible efforts of these inspiring leaders. “What would be the three things that you would take with you if you landed on a deserted island?” 🤔 Before you ask yourself, why would we ever ask this, let me share something with you: Today we celebrate a #milestone – just not one of the typical ones. Today, we had our first #teammeeting as Biorce. But why would that be a milestone? Because today was the day that a vision of one became the mission of ten. And these ten came together to share their expertise, dreams, and what is special about each one of them. Ten experts, ten passionate and motivated people were asked: Among other creative questions, this: “Why did you join Biorce?” Ten different answers, which all came down to: “because of the ambition of your mission, and because your approach made me feel good and curious about what is coming.” The mission that was conceived on a plane and was triggered by a personal story, a story of a curious and ambitious person— today, was proven to be equally shared by ten experts who are committed to bringing this dream into fruition. And yes, this is a milestone. Today the mission was mentioned as “our mission”, by people who say it genuinely, and mean it – and are committed to Biorce’s promise. And if this is not a cause for celebration, then what is? 🎉 “So... what would be the three things?"
