Have your say on the future of transportation in the Houston-Galveston region! 🚀 Federal legislation introduced Transportation Performance Management to address transportation system challenges. As the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Houston-Galveston region, H-GAC sets targets and reports progress in key performance areas: - Safety: Reducing fatalities and serious injuries for all road users. - Pavement & Bridges: Maintaining infrastructure for safety, economic growth, and efficient movement. - Reliability: Ensuring consistent travel times for personal and freight transport. - Congestion: Reducing peak hour delays and promoting ridesharing. - Air Quality: Funding projects to cut emissions and enhance air quality. - Transit Asset Management: Keeping transit vehicles and facilities in top condition. - Public Transportation Safety: Enhancing safety for transit passengers and workers. H-GAC monitors conditions, sets targets, and tracks progress to meet regional transportation goals. Many federal measures complement our existing efforts in the Regional Mobility Report. 📢 Submit your comments on the Draft 2024 Transportation Performance Measures scorecards by Aug. 18, 2024. 📢 An important event has been organised by CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies) in the European Parliament today lining up the rapporteur of the #RailwayInfrastructureCapacityManagement Regulation, Tilly Metz (European Greens), as well as her shadows: Marian-Jean Marinescu (European People's Party), Dominique Riquet (Renew Europe) and Bogusław Liberadzki (Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament). Director C of DG MOVE, Kristian Schmidt (European Commission) as well as several of his colleagues were also present. 🛤 The exchange focused on the political considerations on the Railway Capacity Management proposal, evolving around the 1️⃣ The additional infrastructure capacity that needs to be created to meet #modalshift objectives - mostly for #railfreight 2️⃣ The new process and procedure for allocating #railwayinfrastructure capacity and the role of socio-economic and environmental cost-benefit analysis within it. 3️⃣ The new #governance structure including the involvement of every #stakeholder, yet still keeping the process simple but adequately controlled. ❗ The UIRR position paper on Capacity Management, calling for MORE AND BETTER QUALITY TAIN PATHS FOR FREIGHT TRAINS, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dspKWR5c Frédéric Delorme Johann Pluy Klaus Garstenauer Alberto Mazzola Zsanett Karacs Istvan Pakozdi

I spoke this evening in the UK House of Lords debate on the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom's new National Networks National Policy Statement, which will set the framework for development consent order applications for nationally significant road, rail and strategic rail freight projects. I highlighted the importance of NPS's being kept up to date, noting that this one replaces a predecessor which is now 10 years old. #infrastructure #planning #environment #climatechange

We are delighted to announce the publication of the Annual Report 2023 for the Corridor Rhine-Alpine. The report outlines the challenges we face, and provides detailed information on the steps we are taking along our corridor lines to facilitate a sustainable and seamless international rail freight journey. The economic condition throughout Europe remained stagnant in 2023. Despite the overall economic influence, lack of capacity on the Corridor lines remains the biggest growth constraint on RFC Rhine-Alpine. Even though steady progress is being made in some sections, the situation will only improve when the largest projects on the Corridor lines are completed. However, the overall RFC Rhine-Alpine exit punctuality (30min threshold) increased from 48% to 50% in 2023, but a significant decline in the second half of the year was noticed, in part due to the closure of the Gotthard tunnel. Severe weather conditions across the entire Corridor also negatively impacted performance. In line with our 2022 performance strategies, the Executive Board of RFC Rhine-Alpine continued a collaborative dialogue with Infrastructure Managers, Railway Undertakings, and Terminals to identify problem areas. Activities to improve quality and performance on RFC Rhine-Alpine were jointly carried out in 2023 by establishing the Quality Core Group, with three projects being selected to be developed further. Presentation of the outcomes of the work of the Quality Core Group is foreseen in 2024. More information on performance, PaP allocation and infrastructure projects on Corridor lines can be found on our website! https://lnkd.in/dHkzgqT #AnnualReport #RailFreight #RhineAlpineCorridor #Transportation #Sustainability #Railways #TransportNetworks #Cargo #FreightTransport #InfrastructureInvestment #Performance

🚄🌐 An ultra-high-speed ground transportation (UHSGT) system could soon link three major cities in the Pacific Northwest, drastically reducing travel times between Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. RSG, in partnership with STV, has been integral to helping to shape this future. Through our team's independent, unbiased analysis of three prior feasibility studies, we've delivered a better understanding of the trade-offs between cost, speed, ridership, and level of service to project stakeholders. To learn more about this work and how our team collaborated to deliver solutions, check out STV's recent article on this project: https://lnkd.in/ewHz53Dm You can also read RSG's case study by clicking here: https://lnkd.in/gMU4bd_E #TransportationPlanning #Data #Research

🌍 Rail Concessions and Rail Open Access regimes, both have Opportunities and Risks which need apt operations management and regulation. Whilst both are types of rail economic regulation practices, it is the intent and purpose of each, which warrants success of their employment 💡DO they REMOVE Rail Service RISK from government or DO they INCREASE government rail development and service RISK? 🚆 TRANSNOMICS in Effect highlights the value optimization of different types of rail economic regulatory regimes for efficient rail sector development and operations management. #railindustry #transportation #economicregulation #sustainableinvestments #corridormanagement #compliance #railaccess #projectmanagment #safety #railservices
