HRF is pleased to announce the election of Yulia Navalnaya as its new Chair, succeeding Garry Kasparov after three terms. Yulia, renowned for her unwavering commitment to democratic principles and human rights and for her steadfast support of her husband, the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, brings a wealth of experience and a passionate vision to HRF. "As someone who has personally witnessed the threat dictatorships pose to our loved ones and the world at large, I am deeply honored to take on the role of Chair of the Human Rights Foundation,” said Navalnaya. “In these challenging times, defending fundamental rights and freedoms is more crucial than ever. The mission of HRF is close to my heart, and I look forward to helping advance it." Kasparov, who has chaired HRF since 2012, endorsed Navalnaya, expressing strong confidence in her leadership: "I look forward to supporting Yulia and HRF in this new chapter. It has been a privilege to serve as Chairman of the Human Rights Foundation. Yulia’s courage and commitment to justice are inspiring. HRF will continue to thrive and make an ever-growing impact in the fight for human rights." HRF is honored to continue its commitment to advancing human rights and democracy where it's most at risk. Yulia Navalnaya's passion and work will steer HRF toward a future where freedom remains protected from tyranny. https://lnkd.in/gx88q4xn

Am glad with the election of Yulia as chairman of @HRF, now there will be an opportunity to use all the accumulated experience to continue Alexey’s work. I believe that fragile but strong-willed Yulia will cope with Putin and bring freedom and democracy to Russia. I hope Julia is at the start of her career, her next step will be further and higher. I wish Yulia to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of Russian lawyers located in a safe area to protect human rights and freedom of political prisoners in Russia.
