Teamwork makes the dream work as they say in business! Having a supportive team around you is very important whether in your day to day biz goals or for your personal goals. I work with a terrific group of people at Tabor Communications on my professional side, while having awesome teammates with We Are NYC Running Club on my athletics side. Surround yourself with positive, supportive, uplifting people who help each other achieve goals. This has been so true with my efforts raising funds for the Boston Marathon charity I'm running for to earn my place at the race. It's also a cause very close to me as cancer runs in my family. My heart is filled with gratitude over the generosity that so many have shown on this journey with me. With 121 days to go we have raised $7200 towards the $10,000 goal of supporting the wonderful early cancer detection organization I'm raising funds for - DetecTogether - and also helping me get to the start line of the 2024 Boston Marathon. Why do I do this job? In it's simplest form: to make a difference to the 4000 children and young people in the UK's lives as they are diagnosed with cancer each year. People often say that they would like to help but are unable to volunteer. So how else can you help CSG? If you have a business, why not have one of our posters or our leaflets on display. Or, like Helen and Charles here, you could have some of our stickers to put on your car, or somewhere else where people will see them regularly. If you have a mailing list, could you include our news, events and fundraisers when you send information out to your clients? Could you donate a prize for one of our upcoming events? Critical Project Lesson No.28 – Understanding the "Why" To keep any project moving forward it is imperative that all stakeholders are aligned behind the project. This is best done in understanding the, "why." This does not just mean the business benefits, although these are of course important. To really invoke the power of the, "why" the project manager needs to convey the greater good, the vision of why this project is important. Will it help poor people out of poverty, benefit the environment, assist the sick; whatever the greater vision is this is the why that must be shown by the PM. This will give all project personnel a greater sense of purpose and importance in their work. I was asked why I am doing these three events. So many different reasons....
