The Civil Aviation Safety Inspector Career Path As CASIs progress in their career, they develop and achieve a wider spectrum of the competencies identified in their CAA’s adapted competency model. We can identify three phases in a CASI`s career, on the understanding that not all CASIs achieve or wish to carry out duties and tasks as a principal inspector. Training associated with these four different phases of a CASI’s career supports the acquisition and maintenance of the competencies CASIs need to effectively perform their job. The four phases are depicted in Figure 3 below and are: recruitment, authorization, senior inspector and principal inspector.
