🌍Key Insights from the EGIAN Meeting in Brussels 🌍 On 20 & 21 November 2024, we had the privilege of attending the EGIAN meeting in Brussels. 🌍 December 2024 IESBA Meeting Highlights: Key Areas of Focus! 🌍 The IESBA’s recent meeting in NYC tackled several critical topics shaping the future of ethics and independence standards. Key highlights include: 🌱 Sustainability Standards – Board approval of the International Ethics Standards for Sustainability Assurance (IESSA) and related revisions to the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including International Independence Standards) (the Code), setting a global benchmark for ethical behavior and independence in sustainability reporting and assurance. 📊 Using the Work of an External Expert – Approval of revisions to the Code, establishing an ethical framework for evaluating the competence, capabilities and objectivity of external experts used by professional accountants and sustainability assurance practitioners. 🏢 Firm Culture & Governance (FCG) – The Board also approved a project plan to develop a new standard on accounting firm culture and governance, focusing, among other matters, on ethical leadership and accountability within accounting firms.
