It serves as a stark reminder that ignoring seemingly small safety protocols can have catastrophic consequences, even in controlled environments like healthcare facilities. Imagine this scenario translating to our construction sites. A discarded cigarette near flammable materials. An unguarded power line ignored during welding. A bypassing of basic safety protocols like PPE usage all in the name of "getting the job done quickly." These seemingly insignificant actions can spark infernos, causing injuries, disabilities, and even loss of life for our colleagues and workers. The parallels are undeniable. I feel fortunate to attend a seminar on occupational health and safety in thermal power plants, conducted by Telangana govt. The discussion on real-time accidents that have occurred previously was an eye-opening and different scenario from what I’ve learnt or from what I’m applying as an application engineer. This has taught us how important safety officers are for the long term functioning of any system.
