The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) is hosting a free event on "How social prescribing is revolutionising the way we look at health and wellbeing". 🏥⚡️ Unlocking NHS efficiency through improved Community Healthcare Data. Together with my colleagues at CF, we analysed the impact of community services on healthcare efficiency and how important the use of data will be to unlocking transformation. Our study revealed a promising link: more community nursing contacts led to fewer hospital bed days. Aligning spending could save big. To harness this potential: 1️⃣ Prioritise crucial data fields. 2️⃣ Incentivise accurate data. 3️⃣ Standardise collection. 4️⃣ Validate data integrity. 5️⃣ Connect datasets for insights. Accurate data is crucial for maximising community healthcare's impact on NHS efficiency. It is well documented that harnessing the power of community care is critical to unlocking the productivity challenges in the NHS. However it is not clear how to do this. I have looked into the community services data set to find out more. The community data landscape is vast and complex, with limited incentives to submit good quality data. This leads to low levels of completeness of critical data fields, such as service referred to, clinical coding and workforce, and makes it very difficult to know where to invest. Good quality data is the first step to evaluate the impact of community services investment.
