World Water Week kicks off next week. It highlights the global interconnectivity of communities and nations, and underscores the collaborative effort needed to achieve a sustainable future. Providing essential water supply, waste water disposal, and solid waste disposal facilities to tribal homes and communities is critical to our commitment to raise the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. In anticipation of the week, we thought this was a great time to share more about our longstanding work to bring safe drinking water and sanitation infrastructure into Indian Country and to recognize the efforts and impact of engineers across the Indian health system. Did you know that the IHS Sanitation Facilities Construction Program has been the primary provider of these services since 1959? Since that time, over $9.6 billion has been invested in more than 21,000 projects. We are committed to helping tribal communities get the infrastructure they need and deserve. Learn more about the program at https://www.ihs.gov/dsfc/ and show your support for World Water Week by liking, sharing, or commenting below! #WWWeek #NativeHealth #IndianCountry #WorldWaterWeek

World Water Day celebrates water and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year’s theme highlights how water can create peace or spark conflict. Access to water is a human right, yet, 2.2 billion live without safely managed drinking water services, with devastating impacts for their lives and wider society. A well-managed water cycle underpins progress across the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in relation to hunger, gender equity, health, education, livelihoods, sustainability and ecosystems. Metito’s geographic coverage of key markets impacted by water stress is in line with our commitment to protect, conserve and manage the world most precious resource. Metito is investing in, developing, executing and maintaining various types of projects at several scales, steered by our guiding principles: Impact, Sustainability, Innovation. Today, we encourage you to think of ways you can be more involved in water conservation, to collectively create a better water future for all. #worldwaterday #water #watertreatment #impact #sustainability #innovation #SDGs Learn more by visiting this link: https://lnkd.in/dmPq_Uq

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) that we're promoting this week is: (#6) Clean Water and Sanitation - Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. This is why we care, and why you should too! "As of 2022, 2.2 billion people were without access to safely managed drinking water and 3.5 billion lacked access to safely managed sanitation. Between 2002 and 2021 droughts affected more than 1.4 billion people. As of 2022, roughly half of the world’s population experienced severe water scarcity for at least part of the year, while one quarter faced ‘extremely high’ levels of water stress. Climate change worsens these issues, posing significant risks to social stability. While transboundary river and lake basins are home to approximately 40% of the world’s population and are shared by 153 countries, less than a fifth of these countries have operational arrangements for cooperation in place for all their transboundary waters. Coordinated global action on integrated water management, addressing the impacts of climate change on water resources, and better management of shared waters are key to restoring focus on the Goal." Today, as we commemorate World Water Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the sheer significance of this life-sustaining resource. Water is not just a basic necessity; it's the very essence of life itself. From quenching our thirst to nourishing our crops, supporting ecosystems to driving industry, water plays a pivotal role in every aspect of our existence. However, as we celebrate the abundance of water on our planet, it's crucial to recognize the stark reality that millions of people worldwide still lack access to clean, safe water. This glaring inequality serves as a stark reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure equitable access to water for all. This World Water Day, let's pledge to be stewards of this precious resource. Let's commit to conserving water in our daily lives, whether it's by fixing leaky faucets, reducing unnecessary water usage, or supporting initiatives that promote water sustainability. Small actions on an individual level can have a ripple effect, collectively making a significant impact. Moreover, let's advocate for policies and practices that prioritize water conservation and ensure its fair distribution. Whether it's advocating for improved infrastructure in underserved communities or supporting initiatives that protect water sources from pollution and degradation, let's use our voices to drive positive change. Additionally, let's recognize the interconnectedness of water with other pressing global issues, such as climate change and social justice. Addressing water scarcity and pollution requires holistic approaches that tackle root causes and address systemic inequalities. As we celebrate World Water Day, let's not only celebrate the abundance of water but also recommit ourselves to safeguarding this vital resource for future generations. Let's strive for a world where every individual has access to clean, safe water, where rivers run freely, and where the beauty and bounty of water are cherished and preserved. Together, let's ensure that every drop counts.
