The massive populations of people on the move today - including immigrants & refugees - are the most important issue of our time. They are the most vulnerable group of people in the world while being filled with assets that can be tapped into and leveraged for their good and for the good of their new communities. How we respond is critical for their future and for the future of our cities. What can we do? 👣 We can go out into the neighborhoods where they live to welcome families build relationships with them and fight together to help them find their footing. 🚀 We can help children & youth in these communities do well in school with the help of tutors, mentors and vision-building opportunities. 🤝 We can build relationships that create connectedness, helping families reweave a new social fabric around them that provides support, care and encouragement. #loveyourcity #urbanization #godonthemove

In order to meet the needs of refugees and their host communities, cities mayors can now take responsible actions to help their migrants find available resources to live more effectively.. Mayors Migration Council's Global Cities Fund underlines funds programs to meet the needs of displaced populations while encouraging their inclusion in their host communities. This fund provides cities with flexible grants to implement transformative early childhood development programs that benefit children and caregivers, providing the foundation to help rebuild their communities. This also exemplifies the transformative impact of city leadership to foster the integration of refugee, migrant and host community families. The upcoming Global Refugee Forum is an opportunity to significantly ramp up funding for locally led solutions like the Global Cities Fund and share best practices around how funders, governments and local communities can work together to meet refugee and host community needs.. #cityliving #citymanagement #citymarketing #cityfunding, #urbandevelopment https://lnkd.in/gQC_h_MX

Many insightful and warm comments during this conversation I had the privilege to host as Six Seconds Europe with Giovanni Fontana, CEO and co-founder of Second Tree, an NPO working for and with refugees, volunteers and policy makers. A vision of de-victimisation, trustful peer to peer communication, alliance and deep connection is at the core of building communities of resilience. What if we applied all this to our ordinary relationships and networks? #emotionalintelligence #resilience #community Six Seconds https://lnkd.in/du9eeeHq

Our homes should be a place where we feel safe and secure. However, forcibly displaced families living in urban areas can face substantial hurdles in finding a place to live. Even when they do, they can be exposed to harassment and #discrimination from their landlords and neighbors. That is why we are here to help on both fronts: our community outreach teams support refugee families to find emergency and long-term housing from supportive landlords, and our legal teams support refugee communities as they assert their rights as tenants to prevent unlawful eviction or intimidation. We want all refugee communities to feel welcome and supported in their new homes. #Refugees #RefugeesWelcome #NoHumanIsIllegal #ForcedDisplacement #HumanRights

Millions of children worldwide are displaced due to conflict and persecution. This Refugee Week, Dream Networks joins the call for empathy and action. Play is a fundamental right, yet countless displaced children are missing out. War and displacement disrupt routines, destroy safe spaces, and leave children feeling isolated and stressed. At Dream Networks, we believe in the power of play as a tool for healing and resilience. This Refugee Week, let's champion the right of every child to play and thrive, no matter their background. Together, we can create safe, nurturing spaces where every child has the chance to grow, learn, and experience the joy of play. 🌍💖 #RefugeeWeek #PowerOfPlay #standwithrefugees #play4all
