Agreed, Tomas Eric Nordlander - this was indeed a great and most interesting discussion. As stated during the debate, Nordic society is an open society based on trust, and Nordic companies are cooperation-oriented. Norway is one of the most digitized nations in the world with relative openness in terms of economic data. This can be turned into a major competitive advantage, provided sustainability data is made available and integrated with financial data without increasing the administrative burden and costs to absurdum. In order for competition to be a driving force in the industrial and societal green transition, the parties must be able to make informed decisions. The public authorities need to set clear sustainability requirements in procurement - and follow up contracted products and services on the same - to boost circular business. The industry needs large amounts of sustainability data to be able to follow up on investments - are the chosen solutions effective? Real benefits and costs must be evaluated to ensure that the investments lead to the intended effects; solid ESG in supply chains linked to offered products and services. Transparent sustainability data is a prerequisite for both private and public actors to make informed decisions – an optimization marathon. Thank you, NORCE Norwegian Research Centre, for a most inspiring session!

As the Chair of Sustainability Committee, I had the pleasure of representing the committee at our inaugural Circular Economy Forum. The Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce, Sustainability Committee was set up in 2022 to bring together the power of a network, all with a goal to address climate change in Australia with strong commitment and dedication to sustainable development. Great discussions on ways forward to accelerate to a circular economy and net-zero society through applied experiences, learnings from Europe and key principles that need to be embedded in organisations. Some great quotes that resonated with me… 🌍 “Circular Economy must be embedded within a company’s vision” 🌍 “For a circular economy to work to need to make the unfamiliar, familiar.” 🌍 “It is important to get the culture and mindset right across every section of the business.” 🌍 “Can we grow while using less materials” 🌍 “When circular principles are integrated in the business operations and value chain, we can create complementary benefits for de-carbonisation, efficiencies, and preservation of resources.” Thank you to all who participated, the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra for hosting us and to ACT Greens Spokesperson Jo Clay, Nicole T Garofano, PhD, AAIP and Paul Klymenko in his capacity as a Member of the Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group, for your insights and sharing. #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #NetZero #SACC #Collaboration #Innovation

Circular economy professional (D.Soc.Sc.). Group manager, Circular economy solutions unit, Policy & consumption group, Finnish Environment Institute (Syke). Co-lead, Circular Economy Finland (KiSu).
Finland's road towards #circularity was discussed in depth in an article published in Mongabay this week. Highlights: "- Eight years ago, Finland became the first country to adopt a national circular economy road map to reduce the material footprint of its national economy. - But implementing the actions called for ahead of the 2035 deadline remains a huge challenge, experts say, as the country has one of the largest material consumption footprints per capita in Europe. - Since its inception, the road map has driven innovation at multiple levels, including in governments, research institutions and companies, to implement circular solutions; yet these efforts have not led to a decline in material usage. - Finland’s circular economy venture provides valuable lessons, experts say, notably the importance of widespread inclusion of stakeholders and collaboration, innovation, education, and science-based target setting." Interviewees include Anne Raudaskoski, Jarkko Levänen, Taina Nikula, Tim Forslund, Melina Pinomaa, Sami Selkälä, Tiina Karppinen, Ali Amiri, Anna Garton, Anna-Kaisa Huttunen and Jaakko Kaminen 😊 ♻ #kiertotalous #circulareconomy Kiertotalous-Suomi Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) - Suomen ympäristökeskus (Syke) https://lnkd.in/dzVPstky
