Human rights-based, person-centred legislation on mental health is crucial for establishing robust mental health systems, combating stigma, and ensuring everyone's right to the highest attainable standard of mental health. 🌐 📜 In alignment with the recently published guidance on mental health, human rights, and legislation by the World Health Organization and Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights – an excellent resource for reviewing and updating national legislation – United for Global Mental Health has launched an advocacy guide: “Using the WHO/OHCHR’s Guidance and Practice for National Reform.” This guide includes: ✅ Arguments for national advocates to convince policymakers to reform mental health legislation. ✅ A thematic breakdown of the WHO/OHCHR guidance for easier utilisation. ✅ Case studies highlighting progressive examples of legislative reform, how they were achieved, and their outcomes. 🚀 Join us in advocating for essential reforms using these powerful resources!
