"Wide-angle empathy" - that's an important perspective. So often, we're caught looking for an actor to blame when things aren't going well, whether that's in a clinic, a school or a public health department. But when we zoom out, we see that most people working in complex systems are trying their best against a complicated backdrop. That doesn't mean we can't do better, it just means that blaming individuals probably isn't going to help. Check out this great post from my friend and colleague, Shawn Malone, on how a cool project in South Africa is building up instead of beating up. https://lnkd.in/eNU8-2nt

worth reading, its comprehensive
The National Centre for Creative Health and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing newly published Creative Health Review includes a fantastic range of case studies! The case studies showcase how creative health can reduce pressure on health and social care services both by preventing the onset of ill health and by supporting the management of long-term conditions, offering patients effective, non-clinical approaches that reduce reliance on healthcare services and result in cost savings. The report also examines successful models across the UK where partnerships between arts, health, social care and education are yielding positive results without high costs. U.S. spending on primary care fell again, to a mere 4.6% of total health care dollars spent. Primary Care Collaborative is the only national multi-stakeholder organization focused on whole-person primary care. Primary Care Collaborative President & CEO Ann C. Greiner joins hosts Mark Masselli and Margaret Flinter, APRN, PHD, FAAN on this week's episode of Conversations on Health Care to discuss better compensation and reimbursement for primary care clinicians and efforts to increase training, expanding access to community health centers, and opportunities for primary care to help as the country faces a mental health crisis. What will it take to get the United States to wake up to the need for better primary care? Tune into this week’s conversation to learn more: https://chc1.co/greiner.

During Mental Health Awareness Week we're reflecting on how mobile healthcare clinics make a different for mental health 🚐 Housed in vans or buses, mobile healthcare clinics (MHCs) are effectively medical offices on wheels. Staffed with medical professionals and social support workers, these clinics come to their patients to offer a range of services and supports. The Roots & Rivers team has had the pleasure of meeting the teams behind MHCs across the country through our work conducting a pan-Canadian evaluation of the TELUS Health | TELUS Santé Health for Good program which has supported 25 MHCs across the country. By offering low-barrier, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate primary healthcare MHCs, like those operated by North End Community Health Centre, Sanguen Health Centre Foundation, Kílala Lelum Health Centre, Ottawa Inner City Health and others, make a difference in the mental health of their patients through strong, trusting relationships that enhance social connection and a holistic approach to supporting medical and social needs. Learn more about MHCs 👇🏻 Insights from the evaluation can be found here: https://lnkd.in/g2XYMzyE Research referenced: Preventative health, diversity, and inclusion: a qualitative study of client experience aboard a mobile health clinic in Boston, Massachusetts by Bouchelle, Z., Rawlins, Y., Hill, C., Xochitl Perez, L., Oriol, N. Expert in Transforming Chaos for Neurodivergent Individuals. We bring SHiFT® magic to help them reclaim their space and embrace the life they deserve!
https://lnkd.in/gkZF3NA9 I am so excited to (hopefully) make history for the organizing world by signing the petition to have LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZERS (LPO). IF YOU want to join me in making history---please sign the petition. ABOUT this project: Our ultimate vision is for medical professionals to prescribe licensed professional organizing services to address clinical clutter and hoarding behaviors, revolutionizing treatment options and enhancing patient outcomes. The recognition of LPOs as allied health professionals will be transformative. The critical role we play in improving public health through organization and efficiency remains largely unrecognized within the healthcare sector. This petition is a crucial step towards changing that. By establishing the role of Licensed Professional Organizer (LPO) as an allied health profession, we can finally gain the recognition and credibility needed to expand our impact.
