I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Boris Scharinger, the Senior Innovation Manager and Technology Strategist in the CTO Office at Siemens. In our conversation, Boris discussed his ideas, profile and how Siemens’ 175 years history that has turned great inventions into innovative technologies and the impressive scale of employees and its unwavering focus on #trends and continuous #innovation. We delved into #Industry4.0, #digitaltwins, the concept and practicalities of #metaverseenterprise, and #industrialAI. Boris highlighted the powerful impact of industrial AI Grade and its transformation in business and society: “The digital transformation of industry and AI is a strong tool. When I look into AI today, then AI is actually designed and shaped a lot from the consumer space, from the search engines, and from the social media platforms of this word. And in these environments, you can allow for a certain level rate. Yeah, in many cases 90% is good enough. However, in an industrial production process, I cannot have a robot that works in 90% of the cases. I need to have a robotic solution gripping something, for example, and putting it somewhere on a conveyor belt that really must work for me, 24 by seven must work 99.9%, and for example, it must be able to process a thousand picks per hour. Now these industrial tasks require robust reliability. This is what’s essential for industrial AI. Industrial AI, in a sense, is the application field. It’s the application of AI in industrial use cases, our quality ambition. Moving from industry titans like ABB, Eaton, and Schneider Electric to working with CX, digital change, and AI has been a big shift. Last week's Schneider Electric Innovation Summit in Paris was a vivid reflection of the transformative power of technology. Yet, it also marked a moment of personal transition as I move deeper into the world of CX and digital innovation Assist Digital. In my past jobs, I helped make products that power our world. Now, I'm working on how companies talk to their customers using digital tools and AI. This change is big. It's about using new tech to solve old problems in new ways. Going from making power solutions to improving how we all connect with companies shows one thing: innovation is important everywhere. It's about trying new things, no matter where you are. Here's to the future of digital and AI, making every challenge a chance to do something great. 🌟 Just attended the Innovation Roundtable and I’m feeling inspired! 🌟 I had the opportunity to join a fantastic group of innovators and thought leaders, discussing key challenges and opportunities in AI adoption, personalized healthcare, and strategic innovation. A special thank you to Vittorio Pennazio for organizing such a well-executed event and for inviting me to ask a question during the session—an experience I truly valued. A key takeaway for me was understanding the profound impact AI tools can have on job satisfaction and motivation, alongside the significant challenges that remain in AI adoption. Despite our progression from symbolic AI—the "grandparent" of the 1970s—to machine learning, the "teenager" phase, and now to generative AI, which represents the pinnacle of human-like intellect and innovation, many organizations still face hurdles. In particular, the dominance of "data gurus" over the democratization of AI remains a challenge to widespread adoption and inclusive use. Kudos to all the speakers and participants for their valuable insights, especially Mario Lois for sharing GE HealthCare’s innovative approach to integrating AI in healthcare solutions and Cristina Gurguta for her work in driving AI literacy at Holcim.
