🌍 Update: Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe 🚀 Last year, I collaborated with the Dutch government (RVO and Dutch MFA) on a market assessment of Zimbabwe's youth entrepreneurship ecosystem. Our aim was to provide insights on how the Dutch could foster sustainable and growth-oriented entrepreneurship in key sectors such as Digitization, Circular Economy, and Agriculture, specifically in Bulawayo, Harare, and Mutare. During my time in Zimbabwe, I gained firsthand experience and insights into the challenges facing the country's economy, once a powerhouse, now grappling with significant economic hurdles that hinder the growth of youth-owned businesses. Thank you to Kudakwashe Dhliwayo, Prechard Mhako and Busie Gomez for all the insight and connection you provided to this study in your country! Catalystas has published a case study detailing our research findings. You can check it out for a deeper dive into our exploration of Zimbabwe's entrepreneurial landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for updates from the Dutch Embassy in Harare as we unveil new project opportunities inspired by our research. These initiatives aim to empower youth entrepreneurship and contribute to Zimbabwe's economic revitalization. Let's work together towards a brighter future for entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe. #YouthEntrepreneurship #Zimbabwe #Harare #Bulawayo #Catalystas #SustainableDevelopment #youthownedbusiness #Development #marketResearch #foreigndevelopment #EKN #Dutch #RVO #Entrepreneurship
Between August and October 2023, Catalystas Consulting, represented by Beatrice Maneshi, supported Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Zimbabwe by undertaking a Youth Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Mapping and Analysis 📊 The research mainly aimed at empowering the youth aged 18-35 years in waste management, agriculture, and ICT sectors across Harare, Bulawayo, and Mutare. Through meticulous research involving interviews, stakeholder mappings, surveys, focus groups, the research yielded fruitful results ✨ Despite many challenges, ranging from economic instability to bureaucratic hurdles to corruption, Zimbabwe has a notable track record of entrepreneurship among its diaspora, who are seen as industry leaders in numerous countries in Africa, North America, and Europe. ✅Read the full case study here : link in the first comment #Consulting #YouthEmpowerment #casestudy #Catalystas #Netherlands #Zimbabwe #Youth #entrepreneurship #Africa #NorthAmerica #Europe

Breaking: I am thrilled to announce that IIRR has secured a $40M investment from a private sector partner, taking us one step closer to scaling our work supporting young entrepreneurs in East Africa. For over six decades, our local, regional, and global partners have trusted us to empower rural and indigenous groups to lead dignified lives. Our investment strategy in Africa is based on three undeniable truths: 1. 57% of Africans live in rural areas, 2. agriculture provides 70% of employment in rural areas and accounts for 35% of the continent's GDP, 3. Africa's abundant natural resources, youthful demographics, and emerging middle class will all contribute to an improved supply chain system. Since 2020, IIRR has been mobilizing a diverse group of companies and family offices committed to steering private capital into rural communities. We are deeply committed to fostering innovation and growth across the rural world, and this investment will enable us to expand our impact even further. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners for their continued support in driving positive change. Let's continue to work together to make a difference. #EastAfrica #africa #esginvesting #sustainablefinance #Entrepreneurship #Investment #Innovation #IIRR #impactinvesting #esg #socialimpact #developmentfinance #philanthropy #sustainability

Africa is increasingly recognized as a prime destination for global investors seeking high returns and sustainable growth opportunities. Despite its challenges, the continent boasts a youthful demographic dividend, expanding consumer markets, and vast untapped natural resources. At this pivotal moment of economic resurgence, Assetrise Limited identifies these opportunities to catalyze inclusive development and drive positive socio-economic impact. In a recent interview, the president of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina underscored the critical role of youth empowerment in Africa’s economic transformation. His vision for creating youth-based wealth through improved skills, entrepreneurship, and access to financing, resonates deeply with Assetrise Limited’s commitment to integrating agriculture with real estate, offering sustainable investment opportunities that empower young agropreneurs across Nigeria. ### Investment Opportunities in Cameroon: Opportunities and Challenges Whenever I am in Cameroon, I find it fascinating to talk to business people from the private sector. Despite all the challenges, it is remarkable how the country continues to develop. I have discovered some interesting information on this topic, which I summarize as follows: In February 2024, the Cameroon-EU Business Week took place in Yaoundé. This event brought together European and Cameroonian stakeholders from the public and private sectors to promote trade and investment opportunities in Cameroon. B2B and B2G meetings took place and new projects such as "Investing in Young Businesses in Africa" were presented. https://lnkd.in/d2XTDpnP Cameroon has the potential to become one of the most prosperous countries in Africa and attract foreign direct investment (FDI). With natural resources such as oil, forestry, fisheries and fertile land, the country offers a wide range of investment opportunities. However, to fully capitalize on these advantages, Cameroon needs to improve its administration, promote entrepreneurship and fight corruption. Inadequate infrastructure, a weak rule of law and inefficiencies in state-owned companies hinder the flow of investment. Political risks such as Islamist uprisings in the north and tensions in the Anglophone regions exacerbate the business environment. The government is encouraging investors by incentivizing sectors such as transport, the food industry, tourism and rural development. Free trade zones offer tax and administrative advantages to promote exports. International partnerships and participation in the Agreement on Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) strengthen the legal framework for investment. Despite the challenges, FDI figures show a positive trend. In 2021, Cameroon recorded an FDI inflow of USD 889 million. The government is targeting further growth and increased investment through strategic development plans and improved business conditions. Detailed information can be found on the Lloyds Bank Trade Portal. https://lnkd.in/dN9QhpMW . Cameroon offers significant investment opportunities but requires continuous reforms to realize its full potential. #InvestInCameroon #AfricaEconomy #CameroonBoom #FDI #NaturalResources #AfricaInvestment #EconomicReforms #Cameroon #BusinessOpportunities #SustainableDevelopment

Last week, we marked Nigeria's independence and reflected on our roles in shaping our nation's future. Today, let's turn reflection into action! Here are 5 ways to contribute: 1. Mentorship: Share expertise with someone younger. 2. Volunteer: Support local organizations. 3. Innovate: Develop solutions to pressing challenges. 4. Collaborate: Partner on projects or businesses. 5. Advocate: Speak up for positive change. Personally, I participated in @54collective's Explore Program, a game-changer for entrepreneurs! @54collective is a venture capital firm revolutionising investment and scaling idea to early-stage ventures throughout Africa. Their rigorous worksheet template resets your mindset, ensuring seriousness and focus. What struck me was @54collective's commitment to inclusivity, ensuring no one was left behind. They implemented their teaching. Talk about the "do as I do(not as I say)" rhyme. Thank you, @54collective, for: - Mind-changing knowledge - Connection with fellow Africans (Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and more) - Empowering #buildingAfrica On a lighter note, if you want to learn community management from a pro, ensure to follow Mwihaki G. (I don't know how she does it but she is good in people management). #54collective #Innovation #ExploreProgram #VentureCapital #Investment #StartUp #BuildWithoutBoundaries #NationBuilding #Africa
