Thanks to a continuous emphasis on delivering patient-centered care that results in positive outcomes, stronger local economies, and lower costs to the healthcare system, community health centers have received bipartisan political support at the state and federal level for more than 50 years. We are appreciative of our elected officials, including Iowa's Congressional Delegation, for their ongoing support and investments in our primary care model!

1 in 4. Remember this statistic. It’s the number of people who are served by Health Centers across the United States of America. Over the past 50 + years the movement has become more and more significant and quite frankly, critical. This movement is like no other. It’s about courage, fortitude, perseverance, and compassion. It’s not a job it’s a way of life. It’s about advocating for all. It’s about being a solution for the ills of the world. It’s about lifting up while strengthening America’s landscape. With just a little federal funding, every dime is stretched and generating 6 times over. The person wins, the employee wins, the local economy wins, the state wins, and more significantly, the nation wins. Special thanks to Congress and to all U.S. Presidents over the past 50 years who have allocated funding to this beautiful movement. We are super excited to support our team who sacrifice daily to ensure that the mission lives on. To all the leaders, employees, patients, and families we salute you. To all of the volunteer and consumer board members, your service matters. #NationalCHCWeek🎉 #HealthCentersBridgingGaps #Advocacy #AmericaWinsWithCHCs #CelebratingQualityinHealhcare #EVERYONEMATTERS #INCLUSIVCARES
📣 To kick off National Health Center Week, August 4-10, the White House issued a proclamation recognizing the key role Community Health Centers play in making sure health care is a right in this country, not a privilege: "Federally funded community health centers are a lifeline for over 30 million Americans nationwide — providing affordable access to quality medical, dental, and behavioral health services, which save lives. Community health center sites are especially critical for people in Tribal, rural, and underserved communities because they are often the closest and most convenient sources of care. During National Health Center Week, we recognize the importance of the nearly 1,400 federally funded community health centers that provide critical services to Americans. We express our gratitude to their dedicated staff, who tirelessly devote themselves to the well-being of their patients. And we recommit to ensuring that every American has access to good-quality, affordable health care." Read the full proclamation: https://lnkd.in/e4E4hyDv #NHCW24 #ValueCHCs

In my line of work, the connections between voter registration, civic engagement, and health outcomes are more than academic—they're palpable. I've observed firsthand how communities with lower voter participation often face greater challenges in accessing quality healthcare. It's an interesting space, ripe for researchers and academics, but it doesn't take a researcher to see what's evident through practice. We have compelling evidence linking the vitality of a community's health directly to its civic health. When communities are disengaged from the political process, not only is their access to healthcare impacted, but overall health outcomes suffer as well. This observation isn't just theoretical. It's a call to action—a reminder that civic engagement and healthcare are deeply intertwined. By stepping up to vote and participating in our democracy, we're not just making our voices heard; we're actively contributing to the health and well-being of our communities. As a healthcare provider, I see empowering patients to engage civically as part of holistic care. It's not just about treating individuals; it's about healing communities. #healthcare #public #health #hospitals

We are #LegacyProud of Dr. Pathik Desai from Legacy for his presentation at the Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC) conference, where he shared the stage with the CEO of ConferMED. Dr. Desai's presentation centered on Legacy's successful implementation of e-consults, highlighting our effective strategies for sustaining utilization over time. E-consults help to enhance patient care by enabling faster access to specialized expertise, increasing efficiency in care coordination, and providing convenient access to care. This is how Legacy practitioners like Dr. Desai can reach the most patients and improve the way health care is delivered.

Great meeting this morning with the American Heart Association. There are so many great opportunities in Kansas City to support and advocate for marginalized communities. I propose the following as immediate measures that healthcare and government institutions can do to help the marginalized (right now): • All health equity strategies MUST be trauma-informed and involve cultural competency as evidenced (for example) by the inclusion of “unintended consequences” forecasting during strategic planning. • Hospital systems and Federally Qualified Health Centers MUST grow closer together. Gaps in care within Kansas City’s failing patient referral system are costing us precious time and lives. A local, primary care coalition involving every institution in the chain of care is critical to success. We can do this. We all need to do this. Trust me on that one. • Case Management remains severely underfunded across the board. Whether through Community Health Workers, Cultural Health Navigators, or Social Workers, the Kansas City Community needs to continue developing a wrap-around, assisted patient experience for residents of high mortality zip codes. “You were born where? You live where? Meet your new partner who will walk with you every step of the way during your healthcare journey.” I have more than three points to make but it’s just Wednesday so we’ll stop here today. :) #healthequityisjustice #healthequityishumane #healthequityislifequality #healthequityislifeextension

U.S. spending on primary care fell again, to a mere 4.6% of total health care dollars spent. Primary Care Collaborative is the only national multi-stakeholder organization focused on whole-person primary care. Primary Care Collaborative President & CEO Ann C. Greiner joins hosts Mark Masselli and Margaret Flinter, APRN, PHD, FAAN on this week's episode of Conversations on Health Care to discuss better compensation and reimbursement for primary care clinicians and efforts to increase training, expanding access to community health centers, and opportunities for primary care to help as the country faces a mental health crisis. What will it take to get the United States to wake up to the need for better primary care? Tune into this week’s conversation to learn more: https://chc1.co/greiner.

Senate President Kathleen Passidomo used her 2024 Session Opening Day remarks to champion her plan to beef up Florida’s health care workforce and make improvements in health care delivery. Live Healthy aims to bolster Florida’s health care workforce and infrastructure and directs about $870 million to help get it done. Of that amount, $571.2 million would help increase the rates the state pays providers to treat the poor, elderly and disabled who rely on the safety net program. The biggest chunk of change — $195.8 million — would help increase the rates for home- and community-based providers. https://ow.ly/H9kG50QpwcP
