📣 The International Evaluation Committee evaluated SciLifeLab Infrastructure i.e its 10 technology platforms during spring 2024. You can read all about this and more in the report linked below. 📣 In addition, the IEC gave useful feedback and recommendations to SciLifeLab core entities such as the Training Hub. The IEC recognised having a specific Training Platform/Hub with dedicated training technology infrastructure, support, services and FAIR resources as a key for the continous success of SciLifeLab as a national #researchinfrastructure. 📣 I am very VERY pleased as the report highlights initiatives we now have in pipeline to start in fall 2024. #training and #learning activities need not only to be part of the daily work of any technology platform and part of the role description of the technology #staffscientists at the facilities but also to be of quality, in terms of educational science and FAIR. For us/Training Hub the recommendations to give Training Hub the tasks and mandate to establish: 💫 internal training possibilities for the #researchinfrastructure #staffscientist enable professional development and career paths 💫 external training catalogue that will ensure the technology platforms to capacity build their respective infrastructure users. As much as possible ensuring openly accessible training and that the training is of educational quality as well as FAIR. For both of these areas 💫 Training Hub is well on the go for making this a reality! Together with the #researchinfrastructure community and the #staffscientists we will establish SciLifeLab Training and put us on the map as a recognised lifelong learning prosumer community (producer and consumer in one), a one-stop-shop for life science short-format training and learning. 📣 IEC also envision Training Hub to play a stronger role and with the use of training connecting SciLifeLab with industry and other external stakeholders. I have already some nice ideas for this 🙂 ✨️ Training Hub is well positioned bring the above to success within the next phase (if SciLifeLab management and board will agree with IEC). My hope is that Training Hub is given the mandate and budget to realise these ideas in line with the IEC recommendations already from 2025 and onwards! Stay tuned!
Every four years, SciLifeLab’s infrastructure is evaluated by an international evaluation committee of experts. This is an important tool to make sure our infrastructure remains at the forefront of rapidly evolving technologies and research domains: “Although platforms are expected to continuously be alert to necessary updates this is the most important tool for SciLifeLab as a national research infrastructure to stay up-to-date and relevant for today’s and tomorrow’s technological needs for life science research”, says Annika Jenmalm Jensen, SciLifeLab Infrastructure Director. https://lnkd.in/dX3rT_UV
