Impact CEE is behind us. I had the pleasure of participating in the panel "New Economic Era: From Globalization to Deglobalization". Events such as the pandemic or the war in Ukraine have spurred us at IKEA to build supply chains in a safer, more diversified way. Poland remains extremely important for IKEA. Every fifth IKEA piece sold in the world is produced in Poland. IKEA has 16 factories in 8 locations. Together with our business partners, across the entire value chain in Poland, we have created nearly 100,000 jobs. The new economic era is largely defined by the climate crisis 🌍 . At IKEA, we have set ourselves ambitious goals – 50% reduction of the emissions in the entire value chain by 2030 and 90% by 2050 (comparing to FY16). The changes that need to take place will affect the entire value chain. Investments in renewable energy, which IKEA implements globally, including in Poland, are also of a key importance. Already in 2021, IKEA produced more energy from renewable sources in Poland than we used in all of our operations in stores, warehouses, factories and distribution centers. I would like to thank the host Boguslaw Chrabota from Rzeczpospolita and co-panelists Jagoda Zakrzewska, Google, Robert Dobrzycki, Panattoni, Andrzej Leder, PAN for a good conversation! #impactCEE #IKEA

Today IKEA, together with over 400 cross-sector organisations, calls on EU leaders to confirm the Green Deal as a strategic priority in the next EU mandate. For us in IKEA supply chain operations it is vital to keep ambition and momentum in the industry transformation towards decarbonised transport and logistics. Of course there are, and will be, challenges along the journey. But more importantly there are lots of opportunities in creating a future that is better for people and planet. It is urgent and it is doable! Read the full joint statement here 👉 www.greendealforeurope.eu #GreenDealforEU #IKEA #IKEASupplyChainOperations #decarbonization #zeroemission

What an amazing week at the IKEA Board Meeting in Poland – where we took a deep dive into IKEA’s Supply Chain, an area of mastery and excellence, which is of course essential for IKEA’s quality and low prices. The Head of IKEA’s Supply Chain is the wonderful Susanne Waidzunas, an IKEA veteran who leads operations in a clever, trustworthy and low-profile way – very much in IKEA’s style! 😊 We visited the biggest furniture factory in the world, located in Poznan, which has over 100 hectares of working operations! This factory is led by another AMAZING woman Małgorzata Dobies-Turulska. 💪 There are so many stories I could share about this visit, but for now I want to highlight how impressed I was with the commitment towards co-creating a fully decarbonised goods flow! IKEA completes 1.7 million shipments a year, and the team are constantly striving to ensure that logistics are simpler, more affordable and sustainable. Bien sûr! IKEA’s ambition is to use zero-emission transport and 100% renewable energy across operations, with: ✅ 100% renewable electricity in logistics units by 2025 ✅ 70% relative reduction in transport operations and the use of 100% renewable energy by 2030 I was also very excited to see the fleet of 100% electric trucks! Did you know that IKEA was the pioneer of using the mega trucks from Volvo Group? 🤔 An epic move from IKEA – much like Claude Van Dime’s famous Volvo split! Today our financial results are shared. Over the last year we have, once again, focused on creating a better everyday life for the many people by investing in the future. Some highlights: • We achieved EUR 41.8 billion in revenue. • We invested EUR 2.1 billion in lowering our prices to make IKEA more affordable, accessible, and sustainable. • We have totalled over EUR 4.2 billion in renewable energy investments with Ingka Investments. We don't have shareholders, so we are proud to pay 15% of our net profit as dividend to our owner, the INGKA Foundation, supporting the work of IKEA Foundation in tackling poverty and climate change. The remaining 85% is invested back into our business which helps us continuously work towards our vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. If you don’t know what market research and analysis ‘really’ is and you’re considering Japan market entry, read this as a primer at least. #japan #business #businessinjapan #marketentry #import #export #japanese #marketresearch #feasibility
Bridging Global Brands to Japan's E-Commerce Market | Driving Success on Amazon Japan, Rakuten Ichiba, Qoo10 & Yahoo Japan | Delivering go-to-market solutions and Omni channel strategies
“Any company considering entry into Japan, whether in the retail sector or otherwise, should undertake a detailed market research and analysis program that takes cultural and social factors seriously. IKEA has succeeded in this regard, and other companies should focus on truly understanding Japan first, and then building meaningful connections with people and communities. Through IKEA's leading example of "healthy, sustainable, affordable living for everyone," the sky is the limit for new businesses to find success in Japan.” Good read! Impressive Company! Great example!

During the financial year that ended in August, IKEA Finland focused on investing in future growth. Investments focused particularly on lowering prices and continuously improving the in-store customer experience, user-friendliness and sustainability. We reduced the price of more than 2,870 products, which in practice means that the price of about one in four products decreased. We see extensive price cuts as particularly important at a time when the rising cost of living is limiting consumers' purchasing power. We built sustainable growth for the future by investing in sustainability, especially renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. The Espoo store switched to geothermal heating and more solar power capacity was built for the stores in Espoo, Raisio and Tampere. In addition, the energy performance of restaurants and bistros was improved. Thank you to all IKEA co-workers for boldly making our vision come to life! We will continue to lower prices this year as well. Read more about the financial year 2024 and our future plans 👉https://lnkd.in/dS_bE9GR #IKEA#lowerprices

🌱 The time has come: I am holding the second #Sustainability #Report from IKEA Austria in my hands! It's a moment of pride for me, seeing the collaborative effort across all divisions showcased within its pages. Throughout the 2022/23 reporting period, we've made significant strides towards our sustainability objectives, but there's still much work ahead. In this report, we've documented tangible progress and successes across all facets of our operations, while also shining a light on unresolved issues, obstacles, and ongoing sustainability challenges while we are painfully aware that time is running out. At #IKEA we’re committed to making sustainable choices not only the most affordable but also the most convenient option for everyone and this commitment drives us to continually challenge ourselves, our products, and our services. As Chief Sustainability Officer for #IKEAat, I’m deeply dedicated to championing this cause. Every small step forward matters, and I believe it can change the world. We've achieved numerous milestones in Austria over the past two years, but we're only scratching the surface of challenges like circular economy practices and sustainable mobility. I invite you to read the report and join the conversation. What sustainable practices do you think are most crucial for businesses to adopt? Let's engage on this important topic and work towards a more sustainable future together. 🌍

New Partnership is the New Leadership! I am thrilled to share another great example of how new horizontal collaborations can support us in deploying intermodal rail solutions that contribute to building sustainable transport systems. This success in collaborative approaches among transport buyers started with INDITEX, as previously shared. This confirms that we have opportunities to further explore and leverage such transformative business approaches. Now, we have deployed a new rail solution on the Poland-Austria corridor. This has been achieved together with another shipper and WENZEL Logistics. We have started with two train departures and are already looking to add a third one! This effort enables us to shift an additional 4,000 loads from road to rail, saving 2,300 tons of CO2 yearly. I also want to highlight the crucial role of the human factor in making this happen. This success is about PEOPLE and their willingness to do things differently with high engagement. Special thanks to Joanna Waliszewska, Stephan Platzer, MBA and WENZEL Logistics team. Let's keep moving forward in co-creating the future of transportation. We will all WIN from such new partnerships. #NewPartnership #LogisticsInnovation #Collaboration #Intermodal #Decarbonization
12 NOVEMBER 2024: LAUNCH OF A BRAND-NEW INTERMODAL-RAIL CONNECTION POLAND-AUSTRIA-POLAND, -2300 TONS CO2 On 12 November evening, we started a brand-new intermodal-rail connection between Poland (Poznan) and Austria (Wendorf). It supports our efforts to ensure sustainability in transportation in all its 3 dimensions: ecological, economical and social. This new connection has been built by WENZEL Logistics GmbH for IKEA and another important fellow shipper based on a very close horizontal collaboration (combining the volume flows, agreeing common operational requirements, time plan, etc.) of all parties involved. Currently, two block trains per week will enable IKEA to move additional 4.000 load from road and save 2300 tons of CO2 yearly. As a next step, we are focusing on bringing further volumes to this solution to possibly enable the launch of the third weekly train, and we will explore possibilities to deploy zero emission vehicles for first and last mile to build another green corridor. Big thanks for this great example of horizontal collaboration go to: Damian Walaszek, Klaus Kurzmann, Bernhard Serdelic, Ferry Thomann, Helmut Nussbaumer and IKEA Land team: Joanna Waliszewska, Adrien GARCIA, Tudor Viorel Ciobanu

People have the power to make a difference. From 6-9 June, voters in 27 European countries have the privilege to go to the polls and decide the future of the EU for the next 5 years. At IKEA we believe in people and the power of working together to make change happen. We urge European policymakers to promote the adoption of sustainable business models in the next 5 years so that we can continue delivering on our goals, with people and planet at their core. In our EU Manifesto, we are calling upon legislators to enable the transition to a circular and climate-neutral Europe to drive the just transition, to build competitiveness and protect people through simpler rules and stronger trade partnerships for digitally-enabled retail, and to foster better and more ethical corporate behavior for more positive societal and environmental impact.
