For us to see a more sustainable travel industry, we need big companies to lead by example – that’s why it’s so great to see Eurostar setting a target to power their trains with 100% renewable energy by 2030 🎯 How are they planning to make it happen? ☀️ By introducing solar-powered trains. ♻️ By reducing waste and using resources more efficiently. 🚂 By developing “open hubs” to connect Eurostar services to domestic rail networks and long-haul flights. In less than a decade, you could be riding the rails powered entirely by clean, renewable energy. What do you think of the initiative? #ACETravel #ATGUK #Eurostar #Sustainability #TravelIndustry #News

One of our top commitments for this year is to keep working towards the net zero goal for 2025. Our CO2 emissions mainly arise from the energy consumption of our ground handling service equipment and vehicles. Therefore, we are changing the heating units of our motorized machines to operate on a more sustainable motor fuel oil, renewable Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, at all our network airports. This work has been completed at Helsinki Airport and some of the Lapland Airports, which resulted in halving our emissions on 2023. The transition to renewable fuel oil will be completed by the end of 2024. This ensures that, from the beginning of 2025, we will exclusively use renewable products while minimizing our emissions in other ways and offsetting the remaining amount of our carbon emissions. #netzero #greenergroundhandling #carbonemissions #renewableenergy

Arriving back home in Sweden I'm once again struck by how seamlessly climate friendly solutions have been weaved in to people's everyday life. 🚄 Arlanda Express/Atrain AB is a great example. Its by far the most convenient and fast option to get back and forth to #arlanda airport - it takes all of 18min from the airport to the city train terminal that connects all of Stockholm and beyond - and its the #green choice 💚 - Arlanda Express trains are operated 100% on electricity that carries the "Good Environmental Choice” label or green electricity, meaning the electricity comes from renewable energy sources, such as hydropower, wind power and biofuels - the company is actively working to reduce their overall emissions and have released a comprehensive strategy to become net zero by the end 2025/2026, for scope 1 and 2 emissions - for the remaining emissions they are purchasing Gold Standard certified carbon credits - - although I'd love for them to give a bit more detail about which credits in future #sustainabilityreporting 🌱 What are the options to get back and forth to the airport in your city? #publictransit #publictransport #airport #train
