I've been reflecting on Chris Webb's latest newsletter about jobs nobody else would want to take on. Careers can be a very complicated sector to work in. The absolute sheer joy of helping someone else fulfil their dreams versus the earth shattering lows when you see those in positions who could make a difference not doing so. From low renumeration for CDPs to poor funding for brilliant schemes which could break down socio-economic barriers and help young people and adults alike. But the thing that ALWAYS cheers me, is what a fabulous and supportive sector this wonderful community is. And it's a community that seems to be getting more international by the day. So what better session to run at #CareersFest2024 than a great discussion on what we can learn from each other. Has one particular country cracked it? What common challenges do we all have and how can we overcome them? The panel will include discussions on Finland, Canada, Greece and Pakistan...to name a few! And we're honoured to have some wonderful speakers who have agreed to come along despite the timezone challenges. We're honoured to be joined by: 🌍 Ladi Mohammed-Chapman🤝 🌍 Candy Ho (何甜茵) 🌍 Dimitris Sampsonidis 🌍 Raza Abbas I mean wow. Can't wait to see which country I need to buy a ticket to asap...which country do you think does the best at supporting CDPs? Comment below.👇 Time is running out to get your ticket! https://lnkd.in/e5dwBEfv And don't forget if you're outside of the UK and your timezone doesn't match up with ours, then grab yourself a ticket and you'll get all the recordings...so you won't miss out but don't have to watch the festival in your PJs...unless you want to! #careersincareers #somuchmorethantalkingaboutjobs #careerscommunity #global

An interesting list that for the most part puts the organization’s ability to make a sale or profit in the market. Barring “Community outreach” there is little here that speaks to our desperate need for fostering inclusion, creating safe places to work, building organizations that make a positive contribution to the social contexts in which they operate, and the importance of maintaining a balance between profit, people, planet and purpose. What are the skills that would help us do that?

Great list of the top 25 jobs on the rise! I am not surprised by the top 5 most common skills listed in this post as we have seen so much growth and change in our economic landscape over the past couple years. Skills involving growth, marketing, development and relationship building are all key to advancing an organization's presence in the marketplace. A couple of other skills that my organization reinforces with our client partners are self-awareness, emotional intelligence and communication. These maybe obvious, but are often overlooked or broad-brushed in the quest for speed at achieving pressing business goals. Leaders and teams alike must first get clear on how their style comes across to others, how their messages land and why that influences their ability to connect and sustain organizational and community relationships. If we understand how others perceive us, we are better equipped to make those real time adjustments in our communication with others. I've personally witnessed these skills being implemented and perfected daily and the positive outcomes it produces.

This is a copy of my comments (from yesterday) on the post below. Please let me know what your thoughts are. _____________________________________________________________ "I am always excited to read the results of LinkedIn's research or surveys. Here are my thoughts on this post (a bit futuristic). Even though other disruptors are at play today, AI and GenAI will redefine how we live, work, and interact at a foundational level. To be future-ready, organizations must redefine what 'job 'and 'work' are because the 'Who' doing the 'what' will change over time. They must rethink their talent acquisition model and strategy because the above technologies have leveled the playing field, and everyone is 'starting' at the same baseline. What constitutes an 'experienced' vs. the 'entry-level' job candidate today might not apply tomorrow. A plausible future in my mind is where AI becomes an 'AI generation (like the other five generations in the workplace today), applying for a 'job' and getting 'hired' - (farfetched?)) Additional Jobs/ (beyond 2024) Chief Human-AI Relationship Officer - Co-Led by humans and AI Chief Strategic Foresight Officer - Bridge foresight and strategy to create multiple paths to what's plausible in the future for decision-making today. Chief Humanity Officer - (different from Chief People Officer) "

Sharing some insights presented at Gvahim's "The Israeli Hi-Tech market in times of war" online meeting delivered by Leonid Shlafman from Microsoft Leonid provided an excellent presentation that included the history of Israel's hi-tech, what helped Israel's tech industry to grow, and how to approach job search in Israel's hi-tech and plan long-term. Once again all of us were reminded that over 85% of jobs in Israel were landed through networking, thus, building of new connections is an essential part of Israel's hi-tech that cannot be neglected. Moreover, Leonid presented an amazing platform developed by one of his friends that helps to get a mock interview with HR specialists Havermi - חברמי. Moreover, there are valuable insights in terms of soft skills that Microsoft is looking: - come across as a pleasant person and you are easy to work with - be the one who can work with teammates within your team and people outside your team - demonstrate great problem-solving ability and proactive attitude - show effective communication skills (especially, for project and product managers) Pro-tip 1: be more active - tell more about your achievements, projects, yourself Pro-tip 2: show that you are the best person to do the job well

The common element among all five of these skills is the human element--evidence of our continued move toward building businesses that are resilient and responsive, flexible, values-centric (while also being tech-supported) and sustainable... I hope. Like others here, I agree there are soft skills embedded within these: communications, intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, etc., which, while more challenging to 'upskill', ultimately yield more valuable contribution than the hard stuff. Anyone can learn database management, but learning how to better communicate with your direct reports (leading to better performance and job satisfaction) is a horse of a different color.

From our research, the most important trait any person can have is the ability to help themselves and others change faster. I call this "AI" which is short for #adaptiveiteration. The #adaptiveleaders we work with to grow this capability experience success and fulfillment across a wide range of roles, industries and company sizes. How is your AI?
