Meeting Protocol: You Call the Meeting, You Buy - Don't take many meetings these days, however here is a lesson in protocol. Two examples. Had someone chasing me around to meet for weeks. Finally took the meeting, knowing he would probably be pitching me. When the check came, he did not pick it up. I waited and waited - nope. Meeting protocol states, if you call the meeting...you buy. If I invite you to breakfast or lunch, I'll pick up the check 100% of the time. It's not bad enough I'm getting solicited, I got stuck with the bill. Won't take a meeting with him in the future. Have a CEO friend that went to dinner with a vendor. When the bill came, the vendor did pick it up...but did not leave a tip. The CEO told me, "I could never do business with someone like that, goes to character."
