👑 The Tale of The Frog Prince: A Lesson in Unexpected Opportunities 👑 In the depths of an enchanted forest, a young princess happened upon a well. There, she met a talking frog who made her a promise: in exchange for her companionship, he would retrieve her golden ball from the depths of the well. Reluctantly, she agreed, but once her prized possession was returned, she hastily retreated, forgetting her promise. The frog, persistent and true to his word, followed her back to the palace. With a bit of persuasion, the princess honored her agreement, and through their time together, a transformation occurred. Not only did the frog return to his princely form, but the princess also discovered a companion she never expected to find. 🌟 Your Professional Quest for 'Prince Charming' 🌟 Much like the princess's journey, the path to finding your perfect job can be filled with unexpected turns. I had the pleasure of recently speaking at the Euroleague Basketball MBA programme in Berlin. Thanks again to Miguel Ferreira and Vincenzo Di Giuseppe for the kind invitation. Here were my three career takeaways from the chat. 1. On Patience and Obsession: "You need to be a bit obsessive. Everyone can tell you to follow your passion and find your dream quickly, but the truth is, it’s very difficult. You'll need patience, and it will take time. This doesn't sell books or dreams in the short term, but it’s the old-fashioned story that holds true." 2. On Consistency: "Consistency beats intensity. It’s not about being intensely focused for a short burst; it’s about making small, manageable changes and doing them consistently over a long period. The real competitive advantage is the ability to do something for 10 minutes a day for one year—something almost no one can sustain." 3. On Building Relationships: "When you’re trying to build a relationship with someone, get them to talk about themselves. People love speaking about themselves. Ask open-ended questions and listen. The power of listening is massively undersold. Start with one relationship, one interaction, and then scale it to many. This fundamentally changes your approach to how you deal with people on a day-to-day basis." https://lnkd.in/eQYwV2xf

I met Gill Scott FRSA in 2016 at the National Museum. She was humble and knowledgeable right from the start. In 2022, she became my boss, and I learned a lot from her tireless guidance and enthusiasm. Together, we led many successful projects, including our last project "Perfumes of the East" exhibition, which we completed in just seven months - a remarkable feat for an international exhibition. With Gill's guideline everything is possible. I wold like to summarize my experience with this wonderful leader: : ⭐️ No matter how satisfied you feel with your current skillset, there's always room for professional development. ⭐️ Be proactive in your career and take advantage of opportunities that come your way. ⭐️Guiding your employees with compassion and understanding can foster a productive and rewarding work environment. ⭐️Building strong working relationships starts with mutual respect. ⭐️It's important to listen attentively to your employees and understand their needs. ⭐️Always aim to be the best version of yourself, both personally and professionally. ⭐️Achieving your goals often requires hard work and persistence. Don't give up easily! Good luck with your new job at Misk Foundation , how lucky they are 💓

A FEW LIFE AND CAREER LESSONS I’VE LEARNED FROM WEDDINGS (Part 2) The small things are actually the big things 🏰 I got married in France and I knew that having a week-long celebration abroad could be a big ask for our guests. I wanted to show my appreciation, so I wrote each guest a personalised (of course!) thank you card on their place setting, sharing how much they meant to us and how grateful we were to have them share our special day. We also decorated the table numbers with photos of each guest seated at that table. 🙏 My lesson here?....even though the big event or the job/career may be yours, it wouldn’t be the same without those supporting you and I honestly believe that you can never show too much appreciation and gratitude, and it doesn’t always have to be a general thank you. In our careers, these small, personalised gestures can make a big difference. Taking the time to show and appreciate the contributions, thoughts, support or actions of others surely can lead to more positivity. Whether it’s a heartfelt handwritten note, a shout out in a meeting, or a simple “thank you, here's a coffee” this can really strengthen relationships and boost everyone’s mood. Go on, show your appreciation in a meaningful way….and if it’s personalised and handwritten, even better!!! #LifeLessons #SmallGestures #Appreciation #Gratitude #career #GainLine Rugby Players Association

We can learn a lot from Diana.🦈 Diana Nyad was the first to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage, she did this at the age of 64. There were Four previous failed attempts, her first attempt was in her 20s. The waters are home to box jellyfish and sharks, and not to mention the less-than-ideal currents.🌊 But Nyed was determined to try again. She was determined to succeed. And she did. "One is we should never ever give up. Two is you are never too old to chase your dreams. And three is it looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team," – Nyad. And that can be said for a lot of things in life. Including the job search and the hiring process. If you know what your dream career is, don’t give up just because it doesn’t happen right away. And if you’re searching for the right candidate, don’t settle on your first or second attempt. Great things take time. And just like Nyad says, it might look solitary, but it takes a team, so don’t be afraid to ask for help. I love hearing her story, because she knew what she wanted, and she wasn't going to give up after a few fails. She didn't give up. And I just find that inspirational, don't you? #Inspiration #JobHunt #HiringProcess #FlairForTalent

🛳️ LOOK - A BIG SHIP 🛳️ 🤭 Ok, ok so this post isn’t going to be about the big ship, although fun fact… this big ship is the now retired HMS Belfast docked at The Queen’s Walk near Tower Bridge, and is also a museum… very cool 🤭 💡On another note, I would like to share a little thought about a different type of ship… COMRADESHIP … why I am grateful for it and why everyone should have it💡 ⭐️ Today I travelled to London to meet with my esteemed resilience colleagues Jayne Romanczuk MBCI and James L. and what an absolute treat it was (I never say that lightly). In a few short hours together we were able to ideate, share challenges, find new opportunities and value create. Not bad by any stretch… ⭐️ 🛟 Arguably you could achieve most of these things with any colleague, after all, we are all here to achieve the same goals for our organisation. But it’s not just that… you need great comradeship to make the best of that value. Comrades are the people who you are 💯 certain would throw you the life raft when you need it the most - always there for you in the good times and the bad 🛟 🤩 And lucky me….because I have firm comrades in my colleagues. They always make my day brighter and make me a better version of myself both professionally and personally. I truly believe everyone needs comrades in their lives and if you do, let’s celebrate it 🤩 #comradeship #leadershipdevelopment #womeninbusiness #womeninresilience

For those in our community that may not be aware. Since Jan 2024 Premier People have onboarded some extraordinary talent to lead an entirely new service division: Permanent Recruitment. Paige Keep and Bradley Carton are bringing their combined years of recruitment experience to our partners; clients and community. With access to a huge range of industries there are very few positions that we are unable to assist! Recruitment can be hugely challenging and is not simply popping an Ad on a job board! (If done properly) The amount of work that goes in to vetting and validating a candidates eligibility, suitability and availability for a position is massive! What's more, when you do it all yourself, there's absolutely no guarantee! Whereas with Premier People, in the unlikely event that the candidate isn't a great fit for your company, we will replace them completely free of charge within the first 3 months! That's a statement of assurance in our people and selection processes!
