Judo, as a sport, embodies the ideals highlighted by the United Nations. By its very nature, judo is about participation. It is about inclusion and citizenship. Judo brings individuals and communities together, highlighting commonalities and bridging cultural or ethnic divides. Judo provides a forum to learn skills such as discipline, confidence, and leadership and teaches core principles such as tolerance, cooperation, and respect. Judo teaches the value of effort and how to manage victory as well as defeat. When these positive aspects of judo are emphasised, judo becomes a powerful vehicle through which the United Nations can work towards achieving its goals. In the text, we have substituted judo for the word sport that the UN used. Source: United Nations Inter-Agency, Hartmann, D.; Kwauk, C. (2011). On the occasion of the 2024 Olympic Games, we celebrate the strength and endurance, essential qualities of any high-class athlete, especially in Judo. 🥋 At Inovance, the MD520 inverter has these values integrated into itself. The MD520 is designed to withstand the harshest industrial environments, just like an Olympic Judo athlete faces off against an opponent on the mat. With its high reliability and optimum performance, the MD520 provides precise and robust control for the most complex industrial applications. 🔹 Asynchronous and synchronous motor control 🔹 Wide operating voltage range 🔹 High reliability with protective printed circuitry 🔹 Operates up to 50 ºC 🔹 150% overload resistance Like our Olympic Judo athletes, the MD520 does not back down from any challenge and ensures performance at the highest level. 🥇 See details at: https://lnkd.in/eCMpD4ZH

Clinical Sports Pharmacist. Medication Safety Specialist. Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist.
This study presents a suitable and comprehensive model, revised and supported by experts in Judo, for the development of judokas across the lifespan. Our findings revealed that the model contents—physical, motor, educational, and health—are entwined with its four domains, which the experts in Judo considered of utmost importance. Also, this study improves our understanding of career development and sport participation in Judo. We anticipate its use for integrating Motor Development knowledge with Judo educational, philosophical, and competition values in children, youth, adults, and seniors. Once validated by experts, we recommend that this approach be tested. As such, future studies on the judokas’ unfolding careers should investigate how the physical, motor, health, and educational factors are best entwined across distinct age categories and goals of Judo. https://lnkd.in/drAxNWe9 #JudoForAll

Judo Specialist | Strength and Conditioning | Sports Assessment | Sports Science | +15 years improving athletes performance |
Perspectives Judo is a highly complex sport in which the organization of specific training is a challenging task. Gaining an under- standing of the physiological responses to training and competitive situations is critical for designing appropriate training methods. Although the physiological responses to judo competition and to the most used judo-specific training modalities are fairly well known, improvements in training methods will depend on further well-controlled prospective research studies. Because the Olympic sport of judo has been through constant changes over the past decades (mostly because of improvements in athletes’ technical, tactical, and physical levels and because of changes in official competition rules), future research investigations must provide an under- standing of how these changes impact combat dynamics and, as a consequence, how they impact the physiological and metabolic demands of judo combat. Judo coaches must be aware of these changes as their impact on combat dynamics may require adjustments in training methods. #judo #bjj #martialarts #sportscience #strengthandconditioning

Judo Disruptor - challenging the status quo whilst building one of the biggest judo clubs in the country.
Would you like a judo league in the UK? A competitive league of judo clubs? It’s easy to achieve, but would take 3-5 years … Want to know how? Step 1 - Remove centralisation of athletes (allowing them to train where they want) this would keep more athletes in judo for longer and increase a competitive spirit between clubs. Step 2 - Teach clubs how to grow and maintain their membership (we simply don’t have enough people doing judo in the UK to make it work). There would be other things you would need to do to actually make the league popular (and an event people wanted to see) … But there will NEVER be a judo league without doing Step 1 and 2! #judo #BritishJudo

Judo -Basics and Tactics- (Perfect Lesson Book) by Kenichiro Agemizu https://lnkd.in/gmfqyhSW Innovative "Six Compartment Theory" proposed by the director of Tokai University Judo Club, which has produced many medalists This book reviews the techniques of Japanese-style judo and calls it the "six-compartment theory" based on kumite and height differences. It is organized around the theme of how to compete with the world's best. In each compartment, the basics of Kumite and the techniques to be utilized change. We believe that it is necessary to establish and organize one's techniques in the 6 sections in order to respond in various situations according to one's opponent. * The method used in a session given by the author at the French Judo Federation's April 2024 instructors' course at Tokai University in Japan. #publishing #book #japan #foreignrights #japanesebooks #sport #judo #JapaneseAuthors #KenichiroAgemizu #jitsugyononihonsha #federationfrançaisedejudo #TokaiUniversity

When Does Rule-Breaking Hurt Performance? Evidence from Judo, Soccer, and Organizational Settings? Wei Jee Ong and Scott J. Reynolds found from professional judo and soccer competitions (Studies 1 and 2) that higher ranked competitors experience a more negative relationship between rule violations and performance. In three subsequent experiments, they found this effect due to higher ranked competitors underestimating the downside risks of breaking rules (Studies 4a and 4b), as opposed to being differentially detected or punished (Studies 3a through c). A final experiment (Study 5) used objective performance measures to confirm both the underlying dysfunctional choices made by higher ranked competitors and the associated performance effects. These findings indicate that the consequences of unethical behavior in competitive contexts are more complex and heterogeneous than previously thought.” Interesting :) #unethics #competition #performance #psychology Published Online:15 Apr 2024 https://lnkd.in/d4ScnsX7

In judo there are 3 stages of perfecting your technique. The same goes in developing a business process. Each stage relies on the previous and at the same time will inevitably break the stage before creating iterative steps of review and improvement. In Judo they are 1. Technique 2. Speed to execute 3. Power to account for opponent resistance In business they are: 1. Process 2. Automation 3. Scale I find the similarity facinating. Although that’s maybe also due to constantly thinking about Judo and work 🤣🤣

DID YOU KNOW? The objective of judo is to throw your opponent to the ground, immobilise them with a pinning hold or force them into submission with a joint lock or choke. There are two types of scores in judo: An ippon is awarded when an athlete throws his opponent to the mat on his or her back with strength, speed and control. An ippon can also be awarded through submission or by pinning an opponent to the ground for 20 seconds. If a judoka achieves ippon, they immediately win the match. A waza-ari is awarded for a throw that isn’t clear enough to be an ippon (either because it lacked speed or force, or the opponent did not land primarily on their back) or when an opponent is pinned down for less than 20 seconds (but longer than 10 seconds). Two waza‑ari in one match is the equivalent of an ippon and immediately ends the match. #BidvestsupportsteamSA #Bidvestoperationexcellence
