Understanding Centrifugal Pump Performance Curves: • The capacity and pressure needs of any system can be defined with the help of a graph called a system curve. Similarly the capacity vs. pressure variation graph for a particular pump defines its characteristic pump performance curve. • The pump suppliers try to match the system curve supplied by the user with a pump curve that satisfies these needs as closely as possible. A pumping system operates where the pump curve and the system resistance curve intersect. The intersection of the two curves defines the operating point of both pump and process. However, it is impossible for one operating point to meet all desired operating conditions. PSA HYDROGEN PURIFICATION TECHNIQUES ANATOMY ABSTRACT SEPARATION by ADSORPTION has the ability to produce ultra-high purity 99.9 to 99.999% #HYDROGEN, at low costs with proven components, removing HYDROGEN sulfide, hydrocarbons, carbon oxides, & water from crude H2 feed streams. Pressure Swing #ADSORPTION is the method to separate by ADSORPTION based on a physical binding of gas molecules to adsorbent material. HYDROGEN must be purified to be useful as a fuel. To consider gas component, type of adsorbent material, partial pressure of the gas component & operating temperature to figure out the qualitative ranking of the ADSORPTION . The differences among binding forces to the adsorbent material, is the base of the #separation effect. Highly volatile components with low polarity, such as HYDROGEN, are practically non-adsorbable as opposed to molecules as CO2, N2, CO, hydrocarbons & water vapor. A PSA installation consists of 1)carbon steel adsorber vessels designed for fatigue service , 2)selected mix of adsorbent materials, 3)valve & piping skid that houses all automatic process switching valves, manual isolation valves, feed, product, tail gas pipe & internal connection headers & local instrumentation, connected to the adsorber vessels, 4)a tail gas drum to mix the tail gas & minimize the composition variations & 5)a control system ensuring the correct operation of the #PSA unit. PSA unit capacities range from hundred Nm³/h to 400,000 Nm³/h. PSA works at basically constant temperature & uses the effect of alternating pressure & partial pressure to perform ADSORPTION & #DESORPTION. Changing the PSA adsorbent mix allows moving the key component for the purification from H2 to CO2. heating or cooling is not required, means short cycles within minutes being an economical removal process. PSA has 5 basic process steps: ADSORPTION, impurities are absorbed, CO-CURRENT DEPRESSURIZATION, pressure equalization, COUNTER-CURRENT DEPRESSURIZATION, impurities are desorbed, REGENERATION PURGE WITH PURE GAS & RE PRESSURIZATION TO THE OPERATING PRESSURE. ESSENTIALS SUPPLIER SCOPE OF WORK TO INCLUDE: carbon steel adsorber vessels, prefabricated valve skid, adsorber vessels, specially selected adsorbent like zeolites & activated carbon, tail gas drum, valve & piping skid that houses all automatic process switching valves, isolation valves, feed, product, tail gas, equalization piping networks, internal connection headers, & local instrumentation, connected to the adsorber vessels, process control system, & feed gas compressor or tail gas compressor systems can be included. A horizontal knockout drum is an important component used in various industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, and chemical processing. Its primary function is to separate liquid droplets from gas streams, ensuring the gas exits the drum in a pure, dry state. Here’s how it works: Gas-Liquid Inlet: A mixed stream of gas and liquid enters the drum.
