My comment one the announcement of Maamba Energy Limited's (MEL) 300 MW Phase II power plant expansion. Positive Economic Implications: Energy Security and Diversification: The expansion is crucial in reducing Zambia's reliance on hydroelectric power, which has been compromised by climate-induced water shortages. By increasing the energy mix, Zambia will be less vulnerable to drought-related power deficits, enhancing overall energy security. Support for Key Industries: The additional 300 MW will stabilize the energy supply, crucial for industries such as mining and manufacturing. This stability is likely to reduce production disruptions, particularly in the copper mining sector, which is vital to Zambia’s economy. Job Creation and Local Investment: The project will generate employment during both the construction and operational phases, contributing to job creation and local economic growth. Additionally, substantial financial backing from local institutions, particularly NAPSA, ensures that the project's financial benefits remain within the country, further stimulating the domestic economy. Foreign Exchange Earnings: The expanded capacity offers potential for energy exports during times of surplus, adding to Zambia’s foreign exchange reserves, which aligns with the goals of the 8th National Development Plan (2022-2026). Public-Private Partnerships: The project exemplifies effective collaboration between the government and private sector, which could encourage further investments in the energy sector and other critical infrastructure. #learn #unlearn #relearn#energy #maamba #MEL

Service first to the country, its gratifying to see that the impact of climate Change such as wat we are experiencing on the Natural water bodies and reduced water inflows into Lake Kariba and ITT dam was thoroughly investigated for over 100 years in the Zambia IntegratedResourcePlan #IRP Recently Launched. The plan proposes Developing 650MW of hydro facilities especially in the northern circuit. Distributed Renewable energy sources Solar and Wind combined at 1955MW, 50MW of Biomas in the near term 2020-2026. All these where arrived at by carrying out robust Demand Assessment, Generation planning and transmission planning using international recognised tools such #Antares Expansion, DigiSilent #Powerfactory etc. should we have developed projects that wher in the pipeline and feasibility studies already in place. we could have pulled through this drought situation smoothly. We need an SI in the constitution of Zambia which should not allow politicians to counsel projects that already has reached financial close using heart feelings. We need to put the country first above anything. 2026 is almost near and very little has been achieved so far towards power generation in the Northern circuit wher we have rich minerals and available water to support mechanised Agriculture. let's Please avoid mixing social sciences and Engineering.#Renewable energy, #Power Generation, #IRP, #CIGZAMBIA ,#Hydro power

Main findings of the Ghana Energy Transition and Investment Plan All measures suggested in the plan represent a #USD550billion opportunity for the international community to invest in sustainable development in Ghana. If the plan is achieved in full, it would generate #400000 #netjobs within Ghana’s economy. The country's existing Energy Transition Framework previously set a target of #netzero by 2070, but this new plan shows Ghana has increased its ambition and is targeting net zero by 2060. Various sectoral changes and technologies are proposed in the plan. Four main decarbonization technologies – #renewables, #low-carbon #hydrogen, #batteryelectricvehicles and #cleancookstoves – would cover over 90 percent of the targeted abatement by 2060. Without pursuing the plan, under a business-as-usual scenario, Ghana’s emissions are expected to rise from #28MtCO2e in 2021 to over 140 Mt in 2050, with the bulk of emissions growth coming from #transport, driven by population growth, GDP per capita growth, and #vehicle ownership. This brings a whole new world of opportunities for #TalentCareerTransition. The jobs are available but you need the skills to transition into this world of opportunities.... #400000 jobs are available now and in the future you cannot be stuck in current career. Lets help you get the skills needed for the transition. #ghanaenergyinvestmentplan #talentshumancapital #energytransitionjobs #solartaxi #bev #ev #sustainability #energytransition

My thoughts about The Future of Energy in Zambia 🇿🇲 Is it Time to Open Up the Sector to Private Competition? 🤔 The loadshedding situation in Zambia is alarming 🚨. As a parastatal company, ZESCO Limited has been the primary electricity provider in our country, but the dependence on hydroelectric power and the current drought have led to power outages of up to 23 hours in some areas, even stretching to 3 days 🕰️💔 Is it Time to Rethink ZESCO's Monopoly? 💡 I believe YES!! WHY?? Allowing private companies to participate in the energy sector could be the solution we need 🌈. The benefits of private competition include: -Increased efficiency and cost reduction 💸 -Innovation in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power 🌞 -Improved service quality and customer care 🤝 -Investment in infrastructure and job creation 💼 Success Stories in Africa: In South Africa, private company Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd has implemented solar and wind power projects, reducing dependence on fossil fuels 🌊. In Kenya, private company Kenya Power has increased energy generation through renewable sources, reducing loadshedding 💡. What Can We Do? I believe it's time for the government to consider opening up the energy sector to private competition 📊. A combination of public and private sectors could be the key to solving Zambia's energy crisis 🔑. What do you think? Is it time to give private competition a chance in Zambia's energy sector? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments 💬. #ZESCO #Energy #PrivateCompetition #Sustainability #Zambia 🇿🇲
